We`ve seen this sort of result before and it is very confusing when it doesn`t say `detected` or `undetected`.

It does suggest that the virus could still be detected but at levels too low to be quantified.  By the way `<15 IU/mL` means `less than 15 copies per millilitre` not 15 million, and that is the lower limit of quantification for this test.

"A result of "<15 IU/mL (<1.18 log IU/mL)" indicates that HCV RNA is detected, but the HCV RNA level present cannot be quantified accurately below this lower limit of quantification of this assay.  When clinically indicated, follow-up testing with this assay is recommended in 1 to 2 months."

I would speak to your doctor and check whether this is the full report and try and get some more clarification.

In the meantime, try not to worry, if you do have a detectable viral load it`s at a very low level or the result could even be a lab error.

I just got the results of my 8 week labs & wonder why the 6 week labs say UNDETECTABLE but the 8 week labs only say <15 IU/mL ????

It is much more satisfying to see the word "undetectable."  Is <15 IU/mL really the same thing?  

I attached the report of the labs for weeks 2, 4, 6 & 8.
