Just got off the phone with a PAN representative. I filled out an application online over the weekend and they called me today. I've been approved for $15,000.00 assistance (which is a Godsend, even though I haven't begun the battle with BCBS yet). I won't see my GI for my first visit until next Tuesday, and PAN has already faxed the info to his office. From what I've seen so far, they are very thorough and supportive. BTW, I'm a genotype C3a, but that wasn't even a question they asked--just wanted to know that I had tested positive for the "C" virus.
In addition, I fell just under the 500% above poverty level cut-off and was not expecting anywhere near $15K. Just trying to get the word out there--If you haven't looked into these folks and need financial assistance (although you must have insurance to qualify), please give them a try. Personally, I'm just trying to be as proactive as possible. I'm going to get on the phone next with BCBS just to see where I'm going to stand with them.
