I have kaiser and my results for EOT should be here by Friday. I was undetected at 8.5 weeks and hoping for the best. There is another poster here who was undetected at 8 weeks and detectable <20 at eot. She is a Kaiser patient as well. Could it be the lab they are using?

Doc said that happens sometimes and that many studies count unquantifiable as undetectable. Just freaking out because it sounds like numbers are increasing. Anyone else had this happen? Will get new labs 4wks post tx

Hi Heidi
I'm one of those people who will always look for another way. As Tig said you can back door your hep c doc and get another doctor to get the test. Your insurance should allow this if say your being treated for something else and he wants to check blood himself.
Just be sure you are asking for the right test My regular MD made a mistake and wrote a requisition for the simple test that shows your Positive for hep C ( been exposed to the virus ) So it was a waste of time for me with him. I had to show him a requisition for the quantification test so he could write it properly. By the time I got his result i got my result from my Hep c doc anyway. If you don't know what that test is maybe someone here can guide you. I'm only an expert in tricking the system not as knowledgeable in the technical data LOL
But try not to worry as they are saying no spikes in the liver numbers is a very good indication nothing is going on

Heidi,
I wouldn't be concerned but you can demand a copy of your Lab result. This legally belongs to you. The report should state the LLOQ for whatever PCR test they are using.
Or, relax and go with the flow. You haven't relapsed. Cheers.

Heidi,
That's ridiculous! It seems apparent that there's something questionable about the results. To my knowledge there is no test currently available that has a LLOQ (Lowest Level of Quantification) listed as <20. It's an odd number. Is it possible to request a test from your Primary Care doctor? I have seen them have a bit more understanding when their long time patients need help like this. Some specialists seem too preoccupied to veer from their set course.
Aside from that, I think you should keep positive and hold on to the belief that all will be right. The time will go by fast and your final test will be upon you before you know it. In the meantime, rest easy knowing that your ALT/AST show no indication of relapse!

Yep same lab. I didn't see the paperwork. Doc just calls and reports because apparently Kaiser can't legally post those numbers for me. She said unquantifiable means <20.

Hi Heidilynn,
I can understand your confusion, as that's a weird result. Is it the same Lab where your other tests were done?
Unquantifiable <20 is very odd- I don't know any tests that have a LLOQ of 20.
I suspect it's a Lab error, considering your ALT is only 25. I wouldn't be concerned, but call your doctor. Cheers.

Heidi,
Do your best to relax and get ahold of your doctor tomorrow. The rest of your numbers are excellent! We're always here, so let us know what you find out tomorrow. Hang in there!

Hi Heidilynn,
I would request an immediate repeat of your viral load. It would be very unusual to be undetected throughout treatment with Harvoni and suddenly be detected, especially since it's unquantifiable at EOT. I have seen that with previous protocols, but not the new oral DAA's. The detected return could be false and I'd want to confirm it. It would put your mind at ease, big time. Call your doctor tomorrow and request it. Explain your anxiety and nervousness and tell him/her that you don't want to wait another month to find out. Did you have any other tests, like your ALT/AST done at the same time? Post them if you have them. Let us know and good luck.
