Shhh - Don't tell Tig or he'll be sending swarms of those spy drones my way, but I got out and did a little bit of yard work today (maybe half hour) ... I was moving real slow and drank lots of water but it felt great to get off my keister for a change. Too hot to stay out any longer today (84F) and I'll have more energy soon enough to do more, can't wait.

In the military we considered 7 days and less, as being so "short" you could walk under the door on your way out.... Unless of course you're 7 feet tall, like Jimmy, lol! Then you might want to wait another day or two!

Hiya Syd,

HEREs a link to the ol' logger story.

Those are Douglas Fir trees ( <---- Link)

I like the Old Growth Doug Firs ( <---- Link) (anywhere from 150 years old to centuries old)

I don't like to see the old growth cut (and seeing that logger cut that pumpkin (large tree) down made me sad as well, I have to keep an open mind about logging though or I'd go more nuts that I already am). smile

Dave

Dave,

time's pretty Flexi in my head but i think a couple of days ago you wrote a post about the 5 acres you grew up on in Oregon(?).

it was really beautiful and I had such a clear picture in my head of the place, the old wood cutter circling his trees and the cabin your brother now lives in. I thought I'd just go back for a reread and maybe a cheeky copy and paste for my creative writing kids - and now I can't find it!! Where did you post it? And have you saved it on your own computer for own family?

Even though I agreed with what you said about clear felling versus selective felling. I felt very sad to see that beautiful majestic tree being cut down by someone so skilled he had obviously done it thousands of times before. What sort of tree was it? I have never seen a forest like that before so wet, with all that lichen growing up the trunks of the trees and that feathery foliage.

5 days? But whose counting? Silly question.

You'll  there before you know it.

Syd

Doing good though ... a bit winded like I hit "The Wall" but I'll just slow to a snails pace, get my tail across that line and, like you say, celebrate later. smile

Don't feel like you are alone Paul. You are not the first. Me and a few others fail Sov/riba and went on to another solution. Don't let this de-rail your goal because it's only a setback. You'll win the next round. Keep us up to date on what you're, and your doctors plan will be. smile

Good luck to all on the Sovaldi-Riba train. I just got my SV12 tests back........and unfortunately have a total relapse despite being undetectable at 30 days, 90 days and at EOT. trying to figure out what to try/do next...

Wow,

way to go Dave. Hats off for positive, realistic, calm thinking 11 and a half weeks in with RIBA up to your gills.

Hey I like your 8 ball Tig ...

Still a chance that my PCP will order a VL test when she reads the letter I sent her (at my next appt) ... or she will find out the cost from Quest if not.

Unless my ALT is way up (out of range), I'll just wait. I'm not worried even if ALT is up slightly, I know it fluctuates some. I can wait if I need to. I'll just get back to living life in the mean time ... I KNOW Tx worked. smile

Hey Dave,

Are you registered with the VA? They would more than likely perform a VL upon request. They are doing a lot of that right now. A EOT +4 is a nice morale booster if you can swing it. You can also walk in to Lab Corp and request one yourself, you'd probably have to pay for it. There are some more expensive testing options, but they offer one that is around $200. I could find the information if you are interested. I posted on it recently. I'm confident that you'll be undetected at EOT anyway, so if you can get another CMP at EOT +4, you'd have a good idea by following your ALT score. But we already know you're going to be successful. The Magic 8 Ball said so!

Try weakly is in a few months, I'm trying to meet Syd's thought on "Tri" as in 3 X daily, weekly and monthly. If Riba is the little blue pill you're thinking I'm thinking, then you wouldn't be needing or wanting them either! The only problem with the little blue pill I'm thinking of, is that 4 hour warning to seek medical attention if things go North for too long. 3 hours and 59 minutes would be satisfactory!

It's a family forum, guess I better board a different train than the one I'm dreaming, I mean thinking of.... biggrin

 Hey Syd,

Really? Apparently I did something very wrong or got robbed! Is it possible to "try" and catch up for lost opportunities? Don't crush my hope, lol! I'm a few months shy of "try weakly". I've got to get busy if there's any chance of catching up... I wonder if that little blue pill is liver friendly? biggrin

Hi all, sounds like official Pin Cushion week for most of us around here. GP gave me a slip and I had mine drawn on Monday. I will go back to her tomorrow. Just for liver and kidney function. I know they won't do a viral load until June.

So Its a relief to know that someone in the medical field gets to check out your haemoglobin levels finally Dave. I hope everything else looks stellar.

SF - week 9. That's drawing toward the end as well.

Tig, old age - when you were young were you arrogant enough to think they were a different species and that the droopy skin, tottery steps, shapeless bodies, rheumy eyes must have been something they brought on themselves?? I was. And now we know what bloody old troopers they are, these geriatrics. Life really is just one long lesson in humility.

Ahhh well, at least we got this far. And a sense of humour is an optional extra they can't take away from anyone.

Syd

My turn is coming up on the 18th. If they do a VL and the rest of the usual stuff, it's 8 tubes. I swear I walk out of there light headed. After that much blood loss, they should provide donuts and OJ.

Glad everyone got past the dreaded needle or is that harpoon? 18 gauge fun connected to a vacuum! I'm ready to hear some good reports from all of you. We know they should be, let's get ready to share a smile smile

Jill, your Mum knew what she was talking about! I should've listened to mine at a younger age. I would've avoided many of life's unhappy lessons. But I have to admit, I had some very good ones as a result of my rebellious nature at the time!

Jill - Thanks for the kind thoughts smile

Mike - Results for these should be available within one to two days according to the phlebotomist, when she said that I was a little surprised since the samples go to Seattle (210+ miles one way). I may not see them right away unless I go in and ask for a copy but my PCP usually sends me a copy by mail (an additional day or two). Since I have an appointment for next week (day of EOT) with PCP, she may not send the results but wait for me to come in, not sure.

I'm guessing if the hemoglobin is real low she'll call me. Shes a great PCP but she'll be the first to admit that she's not up on HCV treatment (that's what specialists are for). That would be all fine and dandy except that the specialist I went to see is useless other than writing the initial Rx for the meds. (i.e. no more follow-up, testing, nothing other than EOT+12wk lab order ... even then no more appointments ... like I said, useless). So I'm just using my PCP to get me the tests that I need. Doubt I can talk her into a VL test between now and EOT+12 but maybe.

Yup, won't be long ... getting to within one week has given me a bit of a second wind.

Hopefully you'll get your SVR results back quickly too ... wishing you luck!

Dave

That's no fair your having 2 good phlebotomist in a row. I haven't had one in the past 2 Tx's. biggrin It's a good thing you have Jo to help you deal with this stuff. She sure sounds like a keeper. How long before you'll get your "CBC & CMP" results back?

7 more and you'll be free. You got this Dave. smile

LOL, I had a different gal take my blood today ... she was very efficient, very professional and sweet, go figure ... no problems here either.

9 of 12 has a nice ring to it, moving right along ... congrats!

Some snafu's at the administrative end of things here today but they finally got it figured out ... fortunately Jo came with me and dealt with that, if I would have had to do it, I would have just ended up leaving and telling them when they get it figured out I'll be back. I wouldn't have been rude but I seriously doubt I'd have been much help, lol.
