Hey Kellie

Hoping the best for you and the rash problem, sounds like you are trying really hard and that will pay off for you.

I have noticed that if I cover the rash with some type of hard to remove cloth or bandage and pre apply aloe and whatever other topical that works for soothing, that I am not tempted to itch it.  

With my hand rash I prep with aloe and then wear a glove to bed and leave it on as long as I can to avoid the temptation to itch and make it worse.

The longer you can hang in there the better your odds are on SVR, you will find a way hopefully.

Hi Friends,

Kenalog barely made a dent in the rash. I think the doc just wants me to power through the next 1 1/2 weeks, so I'll have a total of 8 weeks on the teleprevir. I don't know if I can go further.

Atarax not keeping me asleep at night or working for the most part. It's been almost 2 weeks while since I've had a full nights sleep, neither is the Zyrtec. furious

I was trying to avoid benzo's and just use the Atarax for anxiety. But had to break down and ask for some Xanax the other day.

Still using the Disonide.05%. My husband did find this SolarCaine spray with Aloe. It does work for hot spots pretty fast. The best I've found so far.

Doc said I can switch to Benedryl at night to see if it keeps the itch down. I had quite the scratch fest last night.

Funny - I bought 2 pretty blouses as a gift for myself for starting treatment. They are still wrapped, not touched....

My skin feels like tissue paper.....the thought of clothes makes me cringe.

The Aveeno products (lotions, bath soaks) don't work for me. (more chemicals)..bleh

I made my own homemade oatmeal bath with quick oat flakes and my food processor.Process it to a fine powder. 1 heaping cup of powder and  I put a few drops of lavender oil and soak for about 25 minutes in lukewarm water. I do find some relief there too.

It's much cheaper and purer then the Aveeno.

I've found that sugar, wheat and dairy seem to make me itch more. Yesterday just drank a tons of water and coconut water..Less itch during the day (of course the Xanax helps).

Well I was going to say something about it....then I thought ...I know what it's like to be on Incivek...and let it ride.

Hope it helped your rash Kellie from what you said it was beginning to sound nasty.

Do you have personal experience with the injection of it? If not, now I do, as of 1 hour ago.... Just for the 411, my NP runs all past Dr. Pakros of Scripps Green. Also for future reference - when I ask if any one has experience with something, kindly respond if you have - no links please - and no personal opinions that are not backed up by personal experience. Sorry to be such a rag - biggyb, dillo, 12 step dude and Mallani .... I just spent the last 1 1/2 weeks wanting to rip my skin off. The stuff should take effect in the next 48 hours and allow me to continue with this life saving treatment. xoxoxo

Hi Kellie,

There's no way I would let a NP inject me with Triamcinolone. Make sure your Hepatologist approves it. Cheers.

I also had horrible rash with red welts, i just told my doc i needed something for rash, i didn't tell him how bad it was in fear he would take me off treatment immediately. Nurse called me in some triacinolone cream and it cleared up...still got bad itching but i deal with it.

58 yo..Relapsed in 99 and again in 2004. Started triple therapy with Victrelis July 22,2012.  genotype 1a. week 8,12,16,24 VL Undetectable..E.O.T -- 6-22-2013,,,EOT + 24., UND. 

SVR !!!

Thanks Guy , I think the red welts are more from scratching the itch. I know I know I know -I'm living to regret it - Never had the lichen planus before. The NP will be taking pictures of it for sure.........just living minute by minute..... you know 12 step guy? Second by second....come on 8 weeks......come on next second..I still think if they would have been more responsive last weekend when it flared, we could have avoided it all... humpfh......

Itching Yes, red welts Yes, shot NO. I developed raise red patches that a biopsy of indicated Lichen Planus. I've been using triacinolone cream, which helps with the itching.  The legions become patches of dry white flaking skin, but don't clear. But after showering they turn red again.

Turns out the lichen planus is associated with Hep C, and sometimes the presence of it becomes an indicator to test for HepC (at least this is what they told me).

NP has ordered a Kenalog shot for me just in case the rash that is enveloping me gets too bad. No fever, just crazy itching with ugly red welts -furious I know she wants to keep me on the teleprevir at least 8 weeks. Going into week 7 tomorrow. Have any of you folks had this shot or any other steriod shot while on triple treatment?

That's like a Triamcinolone Acetonide Injectable Suspension. They can stop you Incevik if your rash gets too bad. The life threatening problems with "some" Incivek rashes were when you got a sore in your mouth or throat. It could multiply quickly and close off your airway. Keep an eye out for those which are a a worse problem.

I used Triamcinolone Acetonide cream with mine and it kept it under control. Yea it still itched. Like biggyb I dealt with it. Cooler showers cool baths with moisturizing bath wash. Cold environments rather than hot ones. I used Hydrocortisone cream and moisturizer with dimethicone and oatmeal  They would only let me put the Triamcinolone Acetonide cream on twice a day. It makes your skin thinner).

Alternate different creams by at least 20 mins to let the last one soak in before applying  another if you do.

I was also lucky we had a cool winter and spring here.
