Wow, now I can see I'm not alone with higher heart rate...

BAS, do you have the peak of this reaction soon after taking the pill or later? For me, personally, it happens later - next morning (with 18-20 hours delay)

Hi BAS,

I second what Tig wrote.  Maybe ask for an EKG and check with Gilead.  I did 12 weeks of Harvoni and I did have one episode when I felt really strange. I felt like BP was through the roof although I couldn't check it because I was at work. The feeling went away after a few minutes and I chalked it up to unrelated reasons (a missed lunch, etc.) but if it lasted longer or if it happened again, I would have followed up with the doctor or Gilead.  Never felt that way before or since and I miss lunch frequently so I still wonder what the cause was.  These drugs are so new, any unusual side effects that concern you should be checked.

Take care,

- Tess

4 wks after EOT, VL = UND; normal AST/ALT at 4, 8 and 14 weeks after EOT.  15 weeks after EOT = Undetectable!

Hi BAS,

While there is no warning of adverse reaction secondary to propranolol, that doesn't mean it can't. Your doctor of course is your first go to person for advice, but until you can get in there I suggest you call the Gilead Support Path help line. That number patients can call is 1-855-7-MYPATH (1-855-769-7284) for assistance. They have all the information and can speak from experience and first hand knowledge of adverse effects. I would request an EKG when you see your doctor. It would be reassuring to have that done since you're having issues. Anytime something bothers you, have it looked into.

Can anybody decipher that for me?  Is the cardiac risk only for people who also take Amiodarone and Harvoni?

I've been experiencing rapid heart rate and high blood pressure (while taking BP meds) since starting Harvoni.  I do not take Amiodarone but do take a beta blocker: Propranolol.  I went to my primary doc yesterday and the BP was high but she didn't think much of it.  I don't go back to see the liver guy until next week.

Hi MM, we have had this information posted before but it doesn`t hurt to repeat it as it`s important for people to be aware of this.

If anyone on Sovaldi based treatment has any concerns relating to this, please talk to your doctor.

Very useful, thanks!

Hello all,

I would like to start new thread about important facts for HCV drugs based on Sobosbuvir such as Sovaldi and Harvoni.

The reason I do it is the letter sent by Gilead to Health Care Providers: "Serious and Life-Threatening Cases of Symptomatic Bradycardia as well as One Case of Fatal Cardiac Arrest Reported with Coadministration of Amiodarone With Either Harvoni® (ledipasvir and sofosbuvir fixed-dose combination) or With Sovaldi® (sofosbuvir) in Combination with Another Direct Acting Antiviral."

First Tx I had my heart rate higher then normal and my osteopath confirmed this during ours appointments.

Now, I'm on week 12 on Harvoni and two weeks ago I was mentioning some muscular pains in the chest and higher heart rate.

So, there are some links and attached file with Gilead's letter.

http://www.fiercepharma.com/story/gilead-warns-fatal-reaction-sovaldi-harvoni-and-heart-drug/2015-03-23

http://www.fiercepharma.com/press-releases/serious-and-life-threatening-cases-symptomatic-bradycardia-well-one-case-fa

I don't know if this site is a reliable source of the information. This information was sent to by one of my friends on another HCV-forum from Australia, he did Sovaldi+Peg+Riba in combination with heart drug and had some problems like a heart rate, pains etc...

I think this is important because the most of us are not so young...

MM
