Tela got fast tracked so that means 6 months. So it should be approved May 23. How quickly it actually gets out to market I'm not sure. And what that means for the U.K. I am not sure how that works. But you stand a much better chance to clear it in the acute stage. Here is an interesting article for you to read.

http://www.hivandhepatitis.com/2009icr/easl/docs/050509_a.html

A couple of posts below a put a link to a book (PDF) there is a section on coinfestion you may be interested in reading.

Be well,

James

Hey Guys,

-Mano, hopefully by the time you treat Telaprevir will have such a success rate that you will only need to treat for 24 weeks regardless of geno.

Good luck with your new project.  Take refuge in your work.

-Randy good luck this weekend !!

Here is a book for you guys and all.

Yeah, could be worse. And 24 weeks tx is what the doc said - you're right.  Congrats on the new job, is it work that you think you'll like?

Sometimes it's hard to find that balance without having something like hep c to throw in the mix, I can relate.

The one thing I had to keep in mind (to keep my mind), is that, like James10500 indicated earlier, is it's a slow moving disease.  I was all freaked out too at first.
It will get better.  I think it's good you found out at such a young age, you are fortunate about that.

Randy

hey Randy
geno 2 is a good thing.. or at least could be worse.. so that means probably 24weeks on tx right?..
i am stressed, trying to focus on work, just started a new freelance job and need to do well so im pushing myself but at same time seems so insignificant if i could only clear this virus...
been hard to find a balance of working/distract myself/rest enough/keep active/not letting depression get to me.
its all too complicated all of a sudden. hello 30's. someone said they would be my best years- theyre looking like **** from where im standing..

Hi Mano,
How are ya doing today?  I'm back at work on my computer, I'll be around for the next 8 hrs or so if ya need to talk.  It may take a bit for a reply as I am working too.

Thanks Cinnamon Girl, nice to meet you.  I've read a few of your posts elsewhere. cool cat.

Hi Mano,  I know it's hard waiting for the news about genotype, I can't stand to wait for anything.  It's interesting to me that your Doc woudn't grasp how important that info would be to you. Oh well, it does sometimes take a couple of weeks to find out.
My Doc had to check with other Docs before planning my tx, becuse of other issues, maybe relating to the Hep C, maybe not.  It's always more complicated than I want it to be...
Don't feel like your complaining too much, we've all been where you are at.  It's stressful when you first find out the news.  I think that was the best thing about actually starting tx was that I could stop worrying about the future and start complaining about the side effects! LOLbiggrin

Leslie and Jill - It must have been a virus.  I spent last night updating my security software and the problem seems to be solved, thank goodness!

Take care, tysmile

Hi Mano, I haven`t got round to saying hello to you yet, there`s been a lot of new people on the site lately.  So sorry you`re getting so stressed but that`s perfectly understandable.  My hep C nurse actually recommended going on ADs before I started tx, then at a certain point I found it helpful to increase the dose.  I had to wait to find out my genotype, viral load, etc, and yes it`s very frustrating.   Of course the one thing you want to know is your genotype as it dictates how long you`re gonna be on tx!

Please don`t worry about sharing your worries here - no-one is getting sick of your story - we all understand what it`s like and want to help each other as much as poss through this.  Hang on Mano, take each day as it comes and deal with each isssue as it comes up.  You are among friends here.

Hi Randy - don`t think I`ve said hello to you yet either.

Ty - sorry you`ve got that prob with computer, hope you can resolve it somehow.

Take care all, love from Jill xx

Hi Mano,
I haven't spoken with you before, but can understand your feelings of stress, it's a bloody lot to take in and deal with mate, and I feel for you. Just hang in there you have all these wonderful people here on this great site, I myself have only been here just over a week and have found so many new great friends who really understand what your going through. When I was  stressed I would  go down to the beach and scream at the wind, sounds crazy I know but it worked for me a few years back when I was going through a rough patch. You have us to scream at if you want. Sorry I'm raving on it's late time to say good night. Take care.

Hey Mano,

Seems like I had to wait at least two or three weeks to find out my genotype.  Mine turned out to be 2a.  I start treatment sometime between Thursday and Sunday.  I'm in the US and they said 2a is more common to Asian countries. So anything's possible.

I doubt your doc is hiding it, I think I recall them saying it takes a couple weeks for the test.  Maybe they're just backlogged.

I don't know where everybody's at, but a lot of the states are getting hammered by a storm right now. I just went out for a bit and it's quite slippery and nasty out.  I tend to like adverse weather though.

Maybe there is some kind of assistance to help you with the cost of the treatment.

Randy

Yes I see what he is saying regarding trying to knock it out in the accute stage. Mano I understand what you're going through, I was in SHOCK when I walked out of that docs office. It's pretty much consumed my life since April 2010.

I don't think anyone is sick of your story.  It's hard at first but everyday you learn to live with it a bit better.

about liver biopsy still.. he says theres no damage with such small time frame..
but i mean i got tested neg 28 nov 2010.. but my enzymes where high on 2nd week jan. i was feeling unwell most dec and jan to be honest.

can i have had it for longer then my neg text on the 28nov and been damaging my liver for a year or so?... and when do the enzymes go up immediately after infection or they can go up months or years or even never?..
so many questions.

the specialist says he wont ask for a biopsy he wants to treat str8 away cause i was tested negative on 28th nov 2010 so infection is very recent and the thinks its our best shot at it.. i agree with him i have read quite alot of papers reporting dramatically bigger chances of SVR even on genotype1.
but I am just so bloody anxious about everything.. every little ache, little pain.. im concerned about my digestive system nad wat has that to do with hep c.. this is i  found i had it been feeling like **** late dec beg jan 201s1...
guess ppl here start getting fed up of listening my story but really need to get it out of me chest dunnow what for but i feel like im going to explode. i know so little. and im so scared of the very real possibility of going on treatment for 56weeks... i dont know what to think right now.. im scared of what it will do to my body and my mind..

Mano it's not you !! The traffic is pretty heavy lately for us. I would go on AD's pre tx if I had or have to do it again. It's not strange at all to worry about genotype. Have you got a liver biopsy yet ? You need to do that to assess your tx time frame. If your liver is stage 1 you can wait for new meds, that may lessen tx time. Also it will give you more time to save money and prepare for the future. Remember Hep C is very slow moving I am stage 3 but I'vee had it for 40 years. And I also know stage 1's that have had it 30ish years. It is different for everyone. But to get a clear picture you need a liver biopsy.

Best wishes,

James
