Hi Ron, I know I am a little late, but welcome to the forum. It is nice to meet you and I wish you the best of luck with your treatment.     Hugs Dee

Pj is a new member here and it took her a couple of years to get on a trial. I think it would be worth the wait but Im on tx now. This seems to have been my time for tx so lets hope for the best.

Ron.

Gidday Ron,

Yes, we did have one member on here start on a trial of boceprevir along with the other two standard drugs.  If my memory serves me right she was doing so well that they stopped her tx about 30 weeks into tx.

They stopped her tx because it had been decided that anyone who went UND at week 4** of tx (like she did) and maintained it could stop at week 24.  It was about week 30 for her when the week 24 results came back. and she'd been UND since about week 2  I think so they let her stop tx.

They did give her the option if she wanted to keep going, but if I remember, she was a young Mum with a couple of kids and was having a pretty rough trot on tx, so she decided to stop.  Last we heard she was going great guns and hasn't looked back.

Sadly, we had another member start the same trial in California, and he didn't do very well at tx at all.  He had a really bad trot with all the meds and had tx stopped at about week 18 or something like that.

Cheers,

Brendan.

**Based on results from the trials they'd done on bocep. over a number of years, all around the world, anyone who went UND at week 4, acheved and maintained SVR.

Hi Randy,

Its nice to hear a kind voice. Its going good. Lets of dizziness but I'm staying active and I'm making myself laugh watching dumb nighttime comedy shows. lol. It seems to help a little. Also a nice glass of milk at night seems to help me sleep. I'm trying to avoid other drugs but do take some IBuprofen a few times a week.

Thank, Ron.

Yes you add it. Another drug is Telaprevir which is added also. SVR rates for geno 1 are about 70%, for 2 about 85%, and it doesn't as well for 3's, and I think 4s are the same as 1s. This from memory so correct me if I'm wrong guys. James

"Peginterferon (injection) and ribavirin (pill) have been the standard treatment for more than 10 years, which Barr said achieved success only 35 percent to 40 percent of the time and required 48 weeks. Boceprevir is designed to work in combination with those two other drugs. Barr said that Merck's studies showed that among patients who were never treated before, boceprevir was successful more than 60 percent of the time in only 24 weeks."

According to this they are just adding a third drug to the mix. Has anyone taken it yet??
