Sorry to hear that estephania2182

Not quite sure? If she said "no cause there is no blood on it" was to cause there was no blood on it or was it cause you ignored the fact that she just stuck it in her blood?

I'm not being a smart a**, just asking because I know nothing whatsoever about glucose meters. But if you were there, you should know if the object entered her blood and then entered your blood. If that is the case, get tested.

Just because you made contact does not mean you got it. Also if you did get it, there's a possibility your body will fight it off like its supposed to. There is a waiting period if you test positive to see if you will fight it off. I don't what it is, but James is very knowledgeable and his post suggest waiting a total of 6 weeks from time of contact.

Also, I think the sooner you know about it and treat the easier it is to get rid of. but Im not completely sure about that either. Hope this helps.

Ron.

If you just used her meter then you will be fine but if you used the same needle to prick your finger that she used then you need to get tested I know for my mom's checker she uses a new needle each time and then there is a lid to put back on them and you throw them out you then drip the blood on a strip and put it in the machine

Was there an object with her blood on it that pierced your body. Many a medical worked has contracted HCV from a needle stick. If you friend said she could poke herself with a needle then give it to you and have you use it she's irresponsible and negligent. Not to mention a complete idiot. Get a PCR test six weeks out from the date, you can do it in two weeks I believe. Perhaps someone can clarify.

I'm very sorry this happened to you.

Good luck,

James

Hello to all. I am new to forum but am freaking out. A girl I know has Hep C and one day I used her gluclose meter to check my blood sugar. I knew very little about the disease but I made sure she used a fresh strip. She had just checked hers and I asked her if I could get HEP C from using her needle and she said no cause there was no blood on it. I asked her again if she was sure and she said yes. Then I stupidly pricked myself with it. Now my nursing friend tells me that is enough to give myself HEP C and I'm scared half to death......The other friend swears I won't get it but I'm so upset at her I can't believe she would lead me to believe that it was perfectly ok to use hers and I am mad at myself that I wasn't more informed and used her meter in the first place!!!!! Any information would be very helpful. Anyone else had this happen to them and ended up with HEP? Are my chances slim??? And this just happend a week ago so how long until I should get tested??

Thanks!
