There is a 5% chance she will pass it to an unborn child.

Yes. HCV can be spread to the baby during birth is the latest I've heard. Go to YouTube and search "jazzy hep c" it's a video about this kid in England who's mother gave her HCV at birth.

James Here's the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0-CSO6iJDM&feature=youtube_gdata_player

You know I had hep c for about 27 years or longer and my kids are 23 and 21. They did have to be tested and I was worried sick but they both came back negative. But I do know there is a chance so the baby should be tested at some point. The odds I think are low but still there. It is something she doesn't need to stress out about while still pregnant though. (easier said than done) Hope everything comes out well for her.

My friend just found out she has Hep C, but doesn't have access to a computer.

She's wants to know if she had Hep C before she was pregnant....Can she give her kids Hep C during the pregnancy?

Thank you,

Bee
