Hi welcome from me too.

going back a few years i slept with a guy,i didnt know at that time i had hepc, he is a good friend but it still took me sometime to tell him that i had it and that there was a very small chance he could have it.

I stopped talking to him for a while as i was ashamed of myself for not just coming out with it!Then he text me said look i wont bother texting or ringing you...he thought he had done something wrong to me. i plucked up the courage and told him.

he was of course worried he got tested and got the all clear, we are still friends and infact he was a great source of comfort while i was doing my treatment.

bite the bullet mate and tell her. you are putting yourself though all this guilt and worry, your not a bad person.do it for yourself and her.

take it easy kaz x

Hello joose and welcome to the forum!

It is pretty hard to top off the advice already given by comrades here. I'm a firm believer that there are no bad people, there are people that do bad things, I know all about that!! So worry not about being alone in this world.

I believe that honesty is always the best approach and the sooner the situation is dealt with the sooner you can both get on with your lives, regardless of the outcome. One step and one day at a time.

Best regards, John

P.S. I agree that maybe a sober state would be best!

Thank you all so much for your input I think the only thing i can do is tell her, If she really likes me it won't matter to her. I would be upset if i slept with someone and they didn't tell me they had something like this.

As a partner of someone with Hep C, I definitely would want to know my partner's status with ANY sort of possible STI or other contagious disease. When my girlfriend told me, I wasn't worried because I know how rare it is to pass it along via sex. With that said, I did appreciate her openness and will probably get tested just to be on the safe side. She might be upset with you for not saying something sooner, but like the others have said, the risk is pretty low to pass Hep C along with sex. Good luck!

Just be honest and tell her to be tested. Speak the truth fast. It sets you free.

Hi there joose, I must say I agree with Randy -  a lot of us here can relate to having made bad decisions and doing stupid things, so don`t be too hard on yourself.  We are all human!

Yes it`s true that HCV is very rarely transmitted through sex, but it can happen and when rough sex and menstrual blood is involved the risk is increased.

I agree that you should sit down and talk to her about this, even though it will be hard to do.  She really needs to know that she is at risk, however slight that risk may be.  It would be so much better to tell her now than to keep it to yourself.

The only sure way for her to check whether she has been infected is to be tested, even if it`s just to put her mind at rest.

Wishing you both all the best of luck, Jill xx

ps - here`s link which will give you some info on the risks of sexual transmission..

Hi, I've had hep c for 7 years, all of which I didnt know and had unprotected sex with two different people for the entirity of the 7 years. (not at the same time but one after the other) Both have been tested and neither of them got it. My hep C specialist said it is very rarely transmitted through sex, so rare infact that only 1% of spouses per year will get it from their partner. so if you live and have unprotected sex with your partner for 10 years, there is a 10% chance of transmitting it. Knowing this might help ease your mind and hers if she knows it is generally not a sexually transmitted disease. Good luck.

Welcome to the forum Joose. Yeah, I'd probably tell her whether I like her or not. Make sure to point out that HVC is seldom passed through sex, but she might consider getting checked to ease her mind. Maybe talk about what you should do or not do during future encounters just to be safe. She probably won't be happy that you told her after the fact. Might be a good idea to discuss it sober. Emphasize your concern for her and keep your cool no matter what her reaction is. Just my thoughts on it.

As far as the bad decisions, I've made my share. Don't be too hard on youself.

Take care,
Randy

Hello friends, I'm 22 years old and have chronic hep c from a stupid decision involving my father.  I recently met a girl that i like a lot, in fact i asked her to be my girlfriend. we were drunk and things got pretty hot and heavy.  we began having sex and we found out she was on her period, I was drunk and not thinking we continued. Also this morning we had sex again and her period was over, however it was very dry and we did not use lube, so it was pretty rough and my penis is rubbed raw (small tears/sore spots) . im sure she is having some discomfort down there too. I feel so guilty I don't know what i was thinking but, I need some advice on how to handle the situation. I haven't told her about my disease yet i'm embaressed and don't want to be judged, another stupid unfair thing to do to someone.  now i'm flooded with guilt and I just feel terrible. I know i need to do it i'm in love with her and I feel like i would kill myself if i found out i passed this bull**** disease on to her.  my question is how will i know if i passed it on?  how should i tell her? also has anyone here dealt wiht a similar situation.

any input is appreciated. I know i need to be more responsible
