Hi Debra.  I am on similar dose of Vit D after finding out that i had a severe deficiency.

I think it is important that people do get this checked as i'm sure it has been a factor in my post-tx recovery.  There are also benefits to people, of taking vit d during tx, to increase chances of svr.

Wish you all the best when you start your tx.

Steve, i hope things are going well for you.

Hugs

I recently had a bone density scan a few days before my tx began.   Came out normal but when compaired to bone scan I'd had in 2005, it showed i was going down.

put me on 50, 000 units/week of vitamin d plus daily 1,000 VitD, plus calcium and magnezium.

Best thing in all this fear is getting tests    which i would never consider getting otherwisel  Bone density, Cardio.  Puts things in my face like I need to HEAl. and can., unless i am planning on feeling like crap and dying at 57 like my mom did.

Hi Steve and welcome

You're not injecting anything radioactive into your bloodstream. During a clinical trial to evaluate the elimination of the drug, a radiocative substance was used. I'm surprised your medical team haven't explained this, to put your mind at rest! Here's some info

Excretion
In a clinical study with radiolabelled boceprevir, a mean total of 88.2% of the radioactive dose was recovered in the urine and faeces 168 hours after a single oral administration of 800 mg. Radioactivity recovered in the urine and faeces accounted for 9.28% and 78.9% of the dose, respectively, with approximately 3% and 8% of the radiolabelled dose eliminated as boceprevir in the urine and faeces, respectively.

Hope this helps

Love Steff xx

Has anyone had a bone scan while on treatment.  I'm on PEGINTRON , Victrelis and RIBAVIRIN and at week 15.  I'm concerned about the radioactive substance that is injected into my blood stream affecting my treatment.  It's hard to get the same answer twice from my carrier.

Thank You, Steve
