Thanks everyone...clinical trials had actually not crossed my mind at all! im going to go do some googling about that. Really good suggestion

Yeah like Margo said just type in Hep C clinical trials in your area and I am sure lots will come up. When I started this journey I was going to go clinical trial but my insurance kicked in and I am thankful for it. Best of luck. The clinical trials are really good and top notch.

Geno type 1A Started Abbott clinical trial mid Jan 2013. :-)

Viral load when I started this trial 4.75million  Went 12wks on placebo and started real meds on 4/5/13 after 1wk  on real meds 25 after UND @3wks,6wks.w00t: Done trial 6/27/13 and still UND.

I know there are trial groups that offer treatment free of charge. Look up online if any hospital offers the treatment. Good luck!

K, I have no personal experience as I have insurance, but I'm fairly certain that the drug manufacturers (e.g. Merck) have programs to help out or even provide meds free. Check out their websites. His prescribing doctor ought to be able to help with the applications. Good luck.

Hello everyone,

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum for this, but I have this question: While i personally do not have hep c, my best friend was very recently diagnosed. I am extremely worried about him. This diagnosis came after months of having several different problems, which are all now kind of comming together. He is in his mid 20s and is a musician, and hence has no insurence and is broke. Like actually has no money. Like literally five dollars. He sees another doctor on wednesday who I guess is going to tell him whats up. But my question is: is there some kind of health insurence that he can get which is like really really super cheep but will cover him in the event that something really crazy happens? He is not the type of person who would likely reach out like this, so i figured i would in his stead. His parents cannot help him, and he has no plans of telling them anyway. Additionally, while I am not a medical professional, I feel pretty positive that he is young enough that if he takes good care of himself that he should grow old just as well as anyone else. Unfortunatly, that might include taking medication which costs money. Any suggestions from anyone?

I appreciate any information regarding this issue. He really means a lot to me.
