So sorry to hear this Shelby. I can feel your pain.  Don't give up strange ( good ) things do happen. I had a friend with cancer got very ill and they put him in a hospice ward. They had to make him leave he improved so much and he went to a rehabilitation center.  He did pass but he bounced back was more alert and surprised everyone. Hope your dad gets some strength back. God bless you and your dad.

Yes I have tried ensure, whey protien, carnation the problem is he is on a fluid restriction right now. I did get a 600 calorie shake down him and I think I was able to get almost 900 calories in him after a long day. This might sound really bad but I am not a drug addict and never myself have smoked pot, but after research all day I called a friend and they got me some and that was the best thing I could have done. Pray foy r us. Sorry for all the messy typing I am on 2 hours sleep. He did not want to be alone last night. I love my dad so much.

Hi Shelby, very sorry to hear that your dad is so ill, it must be heartbreaking for you.  I think it would be best for you to speak to your father`s doctor about any questions you have concerning his treatment options.  You could also try asking the hospice staff or nurses for advice on ways to increase his daily intake of calories.   They should be able to help.

Wishing you all the best, Jill

disbelief

I am open for all advice on help with getting calories in him.  I have hospice in the house but they are kinda annoying.  He does not want to die trying to make things better for him.  I am 32 so kinda young to be a caregiver but feel blessed to be by my dads side.  I feel so lost watching this very sad.  I am up for trying anything.  He has been acepted into Tampa general liver program but waiting on medicaid and dont think we are gonna make it if I can't get his energy up. ALL Advice needed HELP
