A few years before I found out I had Hep C I tried to donate blood and was told I had hepatitis antibodies and would not be able to donate again without a clearance from a doctor. This information was sent to the American Red Cross and perhaps other agencies, but I have never been able to donate again. They seem to see me coming. Not sure how they do that. And now I am told that even though I have SVR I can never donate again. The blood guys don't ever want to see me again.

If you tested +ve to HCV Antibodies, why would you not do a HCV VL test to see whether you have chronic HepC? If you don't want to know, and plan to just ignore the result, good luck to you! You may regret that when you have developed cirrhosis and/or liver failure, but the choice is yours.

I guess Im asking that if I were told about being positive for antibodies but never got any further testing , can that donation center or does that center report this to any agency ? can an insurance company pry and get these results ? even if these results are NOT positive results of an active infection. Would this be a pre existing condition ? the Insurance company would just love that lol
