I just started a the TURQUOISE II AbbVie all oral trial for those with cirrhosis. I haven't done treatment before and just found out last year that I had Hepatitis C type 1b. I probably got it from a blood transfusion as a kid, but since I'm in my early 40s, it was still a shock to find out it had already caused cirrhosis. I was going to go on the standard triple therapy treatment, but a specialist at Emory advised that I wait for a trial instead. I was able to get into one three weeks ago and I'm hoping to get back Week 2's blood results today. Last week, I found that after just one week on treatment I had dropped from 1 million viral load down to just 45. Unfortunately, the week I started treatment I also got a cold and had sinusitus so I'm not sure what side effects were related directed to the treatment. I can post more on side effects later. Just glad to be in the trial and to see the medication working. I have three young kids and this isn't a time for me to sign off so I'm hoping that this takes care of things!
