As far as the risk of passing the virus on is concerned, there wouldn`t be any danger of anyone catching Hep C by mouth from eating and drinking from crockery, utensils, etc, even if someone were to consume tiny amounts of infected blood.  But there would be a slight risk if you were to cut yourself, say with a knife, and then someone else also cut themselves with it and the virus entered their blood stream.  Remember that there has to be direct `blood to blood` contact for someone else to catch Hep C from you, and as long as you take sensible hygiene precautions there really shouldn`t be any problem.

Make sure you keep any cuts or wounds covered up, and clear up blood spills straight away with bleach. This should be standard hygiene practise anyway in any good restaurant!

Something to bear in mind is that a lot of us here brought up our families over many years before we knew we were infected with Hep C, and cooked, cleaned and cared for them every day, and we didn`t pass it on to them.

Hi Nicholas and welcome to the forum

The forum can help you in many ways , use the search engine and check all the interesting thread that relate to your coming issues.

As far as working, I would weigh the likelihood of your getting cut and bleeding on the job with your responsibily as a fellow human being.

Blood contamination of eating utensils, glasses and plates would be my concern.  Just my opinion.

Don't you wear gloves most of the time?

Just be carefull and take care of yourself if you get cut. Don't worry.

Hi Nicholas, welcome.  You`re under no legal obligation to disclose your Hep C status to your employer, so no need to worry about that.

I have hep c... of course and i have worked 2 days as a dishwasher at a restraunt i wasnt even thinking about my problem but now i am worried, is there some kind of legal issue here? do i have to leave my new job?
