that's funny as im on the real meds and mine are all the same colour a sort of pale orange, pardon my ignorance but what is the point of a placebo in this trial since no one will be cured from a placebo what are they hoping to acomplish

Today was my 12 week appt. for the end of my sapphire phase 3 and I got unblinded. I found out I was on the

real meds the entire time with the Riba. I am so happy and stunned because I had absolutely no side effects the

entire time except for 2 or 3 mini headaches. I drove myself crazy trying to figure out if I was placebo or not and

all the color of pills since I had no sides. I was the 1st one in my group of 4 to be unblinded and I did have the

gray riba capsules so it goes to show all the theories of placebo or not don't hold up. The color of pills and order in

trial can't predict it. So although that my trial is over I wait eagerly for my appt. in 2weeks to find out if I am UND. Fingers

are crossed.

The color f the pill shouldn't matter. What matters and you know I have done 12 wks placebo is in the end you get the real drugs. Your putting your focus in the wrong driection...IMO. And I fell into this subject before on the riba pills. I agree with Matt 100%.

Nearly done a week of big grey riba capsules and i feel no different. I pretty much feel like i'm on placebo so i just get on with life without thinking about it too much. All that matters is, we're lucky to have the place on the trial.

BP-Thats great your almost done the trial. I hope you got the "real stuff" and can be done with this. I have a little over

10 weeks to go. I truly feel like time is standing still sometimes. But I do know it will get here eventually. And I agree

with you that you would think that abbott would make all the drugs in the trial look the same real or not. But I got

myself all worked up when I saw a few posts on some sites about the the 2 colors. I guess only time will tell.

Good morning Paitence 22.  I am participating in the Sapphire I trial and will find out in a little over three weeks if I'm getting the real thing. I have to think that in order to be 'legitimate' trial, the placebos and the real drugs would be identical in appearance.  But I base that on nothing but logic since I have had no previous trial experience.

Matt Chris- Thanks for the quick and nice reply. Good luck to you in your trial as you seem to be in more of the homestretch.. And no matter what arm I am on I still will continue to take my meds and just so happy to be part of this trial .I will know what arm I am on on June 24. So it can't get here quick enough. But like I said earier I saw on a few of the other sites/posting that some of the real riba pills seem to be blue and mine are grey. So although its not a guarantee and abbott could change around colors and for pills/capsules I am still a bit disappointed. But no matter, if another 12 weeks are required that is still a
small price to pay for a cure.

I just came across this site and am very thankful I just found it. Have been reading up on all the study participants and

have found it very helpful. I am almost 2 weeks into my abbott sapphire trial and have absolutely no side effects so

am pretty sure I am on the placebo arm. I'm quite disappointed even though I know I will eventually get the real

drugs. My question is .....is there anyone on this trial that  has no side effects and recieved the real meds? And I wanted to find out what color riba pills most participants had. My riba pills are grey . Did anyone have the real meds with grey pills? Was just curious.

Hello Patience22 & Welcome to the Forum

Yes their are several member on the Sapphire trials,  I'm on the 9th week of the real Meds for the Abbotts Turquoise II study for cirrhotics (same Meds but open label)

Glad you read most of the Abbott trials threads, will be very helpful to answer alot of your current questions.

Most of the side effects are bearable to a large degree compared to SOC.

As far as divulging Abbott Meds colors I will not circumvent the trials purposes by telling you the colors of the real Meds, who's knows that Abbott did'nt changed color to confuse people who try to figure it out.

Non the less you have found a great place to share your journey with like souls.

Matt
