I'll have to search for those reports or will get them next time. I do remember my Hepatologist giving me that information in person versus via report. It was following that information that he ordered the biopsy. It seems the latter doesn't support the former but he seemed very convinced of the original findings. I also had an Abd. MRI that was used in the determination. It was ordered by a different physician and I don't have that report in hand. Those findings were sent digitally to my Hepa.

Hi Tig,

Your biopsy reads as A2-3, F1-2 which is certainly not cirrhotic. Did your doctor give you an explanation for the splenomegaly and gastric thickening? Do you have a copy of the CT and endoscopy reports? Cheers.

Angela, I was just making the point that it is possible to have cirrhosis and have a normal U/S and CT. You won't have cirrhosis at your age so don't worry about it. Cheers.

Yikes..Mallani..I wish I didn't read that lol. My sonogram of liver said everything was fine minus fatty liver. Now I will worry it's not.

As far as the gallbladder ... I have no idea. I know people that have gotten it out and experience some issues but they usually resolve after the first year or so.

Hi Tig,

Stomach wall thickening and enlarged spleen are signs of portal hypertension. The stomach wall thickening may be from portal hypertensive gastropathy. Portal hypertension only occurs in cirrhosis- have you had a recent biopsy to assess your liver status? Cirrhotics can have what looks like a normal liver on CT ( my liver looks OK on Ultrasound, CT and MRI, but it's not).

I had my gallbladder removed in 2001. I also had it removed laparoscopically. I didn't have any further problems until recently. I started to experience severe right upper quadrant pain and general discomfort across the entire abdomen. They performed an abdominal CT, colonoscopy and an endoscopy. The tests showed stomach wall thickening, and an enlarged spleen. The liver and associated structures were okay. The problem seems to be associated to complications of my HCV.

Let me quote the report for you. the biopsy (multiple specimen) CT guided

Results: Chronic Hepatitis (Clinically Hepatitis C Virus Infection) with 2+\4+ Portal and Lobular Inflammation and 1+\4+ Fibrosis

Comment: Multi specimen. Numerous central vein areas in portal tracts are present. Hepatic architecture appears well preserved. There is mild-moderate macrosteatosis. A predominantly small lymphocytic portal infiltrate with a few eosinophils is present. It extends into the surrounding hepatic parenchyma and is graded as 2+\4+. There is focal lobular inflammation with a similar infiltrate, without significant hepatocyte necrosis, also graded as 2+\4+. Portal vessels and bile ducts are unremarkable, sinusoids appear normal. Prussian blue stain shows no increased iron deposition. Reticulum and trichrome stains show slightly increased fibrosis(1+\4+) without evidence of cirrhosis.

End of Report. Date: March 14, 2013

Hi Iris,

There are no stitches or staples near the laproscope scar. If the pain is that severe, I'd ask for a CT scan. I'm certain that fibroids wouldn't give referred pain in that region. Cheers.

yes it was laparoscopic,... had removed it due to unidentified growth. No stones. I heard about stones in the bile duct, but there was no evidence of this in the last ultrasound.

Is there stitches...or staples on the inside of the belly button scar? the pain is right near there....

am going to the OBGYN to see if fibroids could really cause this much discomfort.

how many folks have had the gall bladder removed? I also notice like a bile "let down" and I get the Worst instant stomach ache.

Am I the only one in the world with these problems?

hmmI.D.

Hi Iris,

Did you have a laproscopic removal, or do you have a big scar? Adhesions are possible but unlikely after 10 years. Ask your doctor for a CT upper abdomen and that will show if anything's amiss. Gallstones may still form in the common bile duct and cause similar pains, but that is pretty rare. I'm leaving my gallstones as they are so can't give any personal experience. Good luck.

I was wondering if anyone here who has had their gallbladder removed, is experiencing any pain or other side effects form it??? Its been 10 years anyway, since mine is gone, and the pain that was always to the right side of my bellybutton is getting worse, ...almost to the point of when it was first removed. I'll be seeing Dr." Oh I have that pain too" next week anyway, but he makes me feel like all my pain is irrelevant, and I seems it's practically useless to say anything. (foot note...for those of you who don't know me,... I am seen at a free county clinic and don't get to choose my Dr.)

I was wondering..is there staples or something there that may becoming irritated?? The week after my gall bladder was removed I was in the emergency room with such horrendous pain (same spot) and they told me it was fibroids on the outside of my uterus irritating the new incision (gall bladder was removed thru the bellybutton), Ok ..uterus is a long way from the bellybutton isn't it?

So that's all ...Hi everyone long time no talk tosmile...and Happy Dad's day tomorrow!!, I know their are lots of fathers here

Blessings, Iris
