Finishing treatment. What now?

Hi Cynthia, welcome from me too!   As Malcolm said, the speed of recovery from treatment does vary, and some people start feeling better sooner than others.  Doctors and nurses often give the impression that you`ll start recovering very quickly once you`ve finished the meds, but it reality most people should expect to have a period of a few weeks for rest and relaxation before they start getting back to pre-treatment levels of activity.

Going through treatment has a huge impact on us, physically, mentally and psychologically, so bear with it and treat yourself kindly for a while.  And give yourself a big pat on the back for completing your tx, congrats!

All the best of luck with your post tx results, keep us posted!  smile  ~ Jill

Hi Cynthia,

Welcome to the Forum, and congrats on getting to the end of Rx. Interferon takes a couple of weeks to be fully eliminated, but Riba can hang around for up to 6 months. The anaemia recovers fairly quickly and I was almost back to normal at 12 weeks. It varies from person to person, but side effects like depression and the Riba rage take a few weeks to start to ease. Hair loss usually stops soon after EOT and hair-regrowth is pretty quick. Don't expect to feel great straight away. Just relax and let the poisons out. Good luck with your EOT and subsequent tests. Cheers.
