Great news Terry! I'm so glad to hear you've turned that corner and things are improving. I was caught smiling when I read your remarks about Black Cherries! I've discovered they are wonderful for the intestinal difficulties experienced with these medications. I couldn't buy a good #2 (maybe if I'd have looked hard) but once I started snacking on those cherries I failed to experience the problem anymore. I have to add one thing though. Don't overdue the cherry intake or you may find yourself spending more time in the Loo than you planned too biggrin

I think I mentioned before the Black Cherries so here is some info to back it up.

Also read this :

Benefits Of Black Cherry
The fruit of this plant, apart from being a boon to the taste buds, is also a panacea for a whole range of disorders. Medical experts have concluded that consumption of black cherries can ease the severity of numerous health problems, ranging from headaches to cancers. Known to have excellent anti-inflammatory properties, black cherry is used as a ready reckoner for many disorders related to inflammation as well. Through the lines that follow, make yourself aware of the health benefits of black cherry as well as its high nutritional value.

Health & Nutrition Benefits Of Eating Black Cherries

Anthocyanins, potent antioxidants, are present in the red pigment of black cherries. They help combat symptoms of gout, by greatly decreasing the levels of uric acid. Anthocyanins further help in fighting inflammation 10 times more than aspirin. They even prevent the build up of plaque in the walls of the arteries, much more effectively than vitamins C and E.
The melatonin present in black cherries helps boost the immune system as well as lower the risk of stroke and heart disease, by lowering blood lipid levels.
Apart from the antioxidants, black cherry is rich in isoqueritrin and queritrin, two important flavonoids. They help in neutralizing the body' harmful oxidants, in turn aiding the fight against carcinogens, viruses and allergens.
The naturally occurring elements in black cherries have been proven to reduce blood sugar levels in diabetics.
Regular consumption of black cherry is known to reduce high blood cholesterol, ease arthritis and gout, prevent age-related deterioration of eyesight, and even prevent premature ageing.
Drinking a glass of black cherry juice daily can help reduce the muscle damage caused by excessive exercise.
The bark of black cherry is used as an ingredient in cough medicines, since it is a known cough suppressant.
Black cherry tea is now being used to improve intestinal function and boost overall energy and metabolism.
Drinking an ounce of concentrated black cherry juice, an hour or so before bed, helps calm the mind and improves the quality of sleep

This has not been easy on my mind knowing that I was slated to either get a transplant or worse but after reading what all you people have been through I decided that I could do this and just had to get my health back and my mental state. I am hoping that one day I will be able to tell my Daughter the hell that I went through at the start but they as this point have no idea that anything is wrong. It does make for a long road when you have no family support but I have tried to keep positive and I don't know how much football you watch but there is a coach for the Indianapolis Colts that had Cancer and the interview of him saying that he just wanted to be able to dance at his Daughters wedding really broke me up and I decided that this just had to be done. I am wishing you all the best and hoping one day we can all be able to say we beat this thing !! Thx for your support !!

I should be thanking all you people because after I was told I had from 3 months to a year or more to live I was very depressed and My wife and I don't get along very good so she had asked me not to tell the kids anything. So from the start until now I have had very little support because I am the only one who knows and that made it hard on me with no one to help me through any of this. But I have turned the corner and and hoping that this stays away for good. Thx Terry

Hi Matt

I am on the 24 week program and that is probably the best because of the condition my liver was in. The ABT450/267 the ABT 333 and I take 3 ribavirin for each dose. And after the build up of that drug I had a little rash and noticed my breathing became harder and had what I would call eye aches (headaches) but I refused to take anything for them and they don't last very long. My legs after baseball feel like I had just run a marathon but I have no complaints about any of it and nothing will stop me from completing this treatment and getting rid of this for good. I eat frozen Black Cherries that I get from a special spot and they seem to cause your whole body to function better.

Congrats Terry

Keep them UND coming and keep on running the HCV out of your life.

Terry are you on the 12 week arm or the 24 week arm?

Matt

Great results, Terry, and congrats on the continuing UND!  It`s understandable that the ribavirin side effects have limited your playing time, but it`s pretty amazing being able to do it at all while on treatment!  You`re doing very well, thanks for the update!  smile

Hi Terry,

For a cirrhotic, those are very impressive results. By week 10, I could barely get out of bed with the Victrelis tripleRx. My ALT and AST never dropped to normal, so you are looking good. Keep it up. Cheers.

I was in for my standard blood test and checkup and have still been declared undetected so I hope it stays that way. The ALT and AST are now normal and my Platelet count that started at 108 has now made it to 149. I have been so busy with work and baseball that I haven't had time to post. That Ribavirin sure can take your breath away so Have had to limit the time you play.  I really hope you are all doing well..
