I have also used Gabapentin (Neurontin), the reason was because it goes through the kidney's and not the

Liver. So they said it was better for people with bad livers.

I hear you Tim about the 'holiday' everyone seems to think I'm having. Oh these sx are so much fun, not!

Hang in there, and count backwards only 10 weeks left! I have 18 to go.

I take 600mg of Gabapentin (Neurontin) 3Xdaily. I've had extensive cervical spine surgery and have a lot of nerve damage and burning skin pain as a result of it. It helps to minimize that discomfort, sort of and I'm taking a large dose of it. It was cleared by my treatment pharmacist and my hepa doctor, so it has been approved for use while on treatment (for me anyway). You should always check with your treatment team before using anything. They can get very excited otherwise! If it helps me better tolerate the side effects of treatment, I'm not aware of it and I wasn't told to expect anything specific from it in that respect. But if it helps you, that's a good thing right? Good luck!

Thank you for checking on the trackers, and your answer about my meds is all I would hope for I did call him yesterday but no reply. He told me early on it would be okay but was less than enthusiastic about it. I have read on it in Wikipedia, plus's and minus's. to be sure. I need to get in to see him anyway. I want to discuss the LC/ESI-MS-MS ribavirin assay I have read about today on this forum. It sounds almost to good to be true, the ability to achieve SVR by controlling RBV levels.

Ok, I just checked in Medhelp and I can see the trackers you`re talking about, Tim.  Sorry, but our forum set up doesn`t have the option to include advanced features like that.

I can`t answer your question about gabapentin I`m afraid, but it`s always best to check with your doctor about any extra medications you wish to take while on treatment.

I have been spending most of my time in MedHelp....There are trackers for CBC levels HCV Blood pressure weight etc. It is a good way to share with others our VL blood level concentrations and so forth. Would make it easier to share important information with others especially the gurus...smile

Thank you....I know 10 more weeks unbelievable, I do have a question though, I really do have a hard time taking pain meds, but I have found by taking gabapentin I can function at a level that has been lost to me for months. 300 mg 3x a day. It's an old script of mine that I tried for aches and pains before. But found I didn't need it, but today they are beneficial.

Is this harmful?

Took my 38th injection last night. I really am happy I found this forum. I wish I could respond to others, I have been reading and that is a good thing. For the next couple of days I will be pretty much laid up. I keep waiting for the day when my body won't have such a reaction to the interferon. I have heard from the beginning that this journey gets easier blahblah.gif , I guess it is not in my future until I take my last dose of ribavirin. 10-31-2013...Halloween, or All Saints Day. That all most seems funny to me. In odd sort of way.confuse

I have been reading about the Ion trails and success they are having, I am so happy for those that will be able to get rid of this virus without having to suffer this hell, mostly I see it is for GT1 naive patients, I hope they find the medication for all GT's.

So anyway I am still here, just licking my wounds, I wonder though...I have been working in another forum wherein they have trackers so a person can track their progress is that available here as well?

Wishing everybody a great day smile !!!!

Hi Tim, what exactly did you have in mind by being able to `track` your progress?  What a lot of people do is write a few words in their `Signature`, which is what appears at the bottom of our posts, with some brief tx details and their vl results as they go along.  It`s quite helpful for everyone to read anyway, especially when we`re replying to you.

Sorry you`re having a rough time, the treatment drugs affect everyone differently and unfortunately it doesn`t always get easier as you go along.  You`re doing so well though, and getting near to the end, hang on in there!

Good job you haven`t lost your sense of humour anyway!  wink

Take care, speak to you again soon.
