Hi Kristen, your story is very moving, and all of us here understand how anxious you must be feeling right now.  But keep telling yourself that you`ll get through this and you`ll have a healthy `Hep C free` life ahead of you.  Your age is on your side and so is your genotype, and I`m sure you`ll be clear of this virus one way or another, whichever treatment plan turns out to be the most suitable for you.

Wishing you all the best, keep us posted.  We`ll be here for you!  smile

Hi Malcolm,

Yes, I will let you know about my biopsy, thanks!  My doctor did mention the 24 week treatment of meds but she also did mention a new drug coming out in 3 yrs that is a 12 week treatment with a lot less side effects.  But none of the that could be decided until I get my results, of course!...feeling anxious and nervous!!!  Have a good night...take care!!!

Hi kris10,

At your age with Geno 2 and a low VL, Rx should be a matter of formality. Let us know your biopsy result, but you will probably do a 24 week course of Peg/Riba, and your chances of SVR are 80-100%! Cheers.

Hey everyone,

I went to the doctors this week and I'm Genotype 2.  I'm going in for A liver biopsy in 3 weeks.  I finally told my parents and I was able to find out that I did have blood transfusion s after I was born so Children's Hospital is mailing me my records. 40 years ago, that's crazy!!!  I was very sick after I was born and was in the hospital for 4 months.  My mom had receipts from back then and I had 15 pints of blood put into my tiny body!!  Well thanks for listening.  Keep you posted!!!

Hi Kris10:

Your vl load really low, so your success rate is that much greater!

My vl was 289,000 and was UND at 4 weeks into treatment!

Just live day to day the best you can and everything will fall into place.

I spent a year being mad that I got it, but it was obvious to me why.

Ask questions, and question everything.

All the best.

Hi kris10,

Welcome to the Forum. Your Viral Load is 352,228 which is quite low. The next step is to find out your Genotype. There are many treatment options, and the chances of eradicating the virus have never been better. If you could find out your blood test results, that is helpful, particularly the ALT and AST. These days, most people can be 'çured' so don't stress about it. Give up the alcohol, eat a healthy diet and try to get fit.

We don't spend too much time worrying about how we caught the virus. Some of us have a good idea, but 20% have no risk factors. Let us know your results and we can help with any questions. Cheers.

Hi Mallani,

Thanks for the info....it relieves a bit of my anxiety lol. I'm trying not to spend much time figuring out how I was exposed, but its hard not to. I will find everything out about my blood work next Wed. and I'll let everyone know. I hardly drink but occasionally Have a few beers on the weekends or when my husband and I go out and that will be tough. I haven't had a drink for a month since I found out.  I Joined a gym and weight loss program. On my way to a healthier life style! I'm gonna try anyway...lol

Hi kris, thanks for sharing. I too am newly diagnosed, source of contraction unknown. Glad to see that your conscious of lifestyle. Congratulations, that's a significant weight loss in that period of time. I could lose about 10-15 lbs myself. Did you have any quantitative/qualitative testing or genotyping done?

confuse Hi everyone :)  I'm 40 yrs old and I just found out I have Hep C through blood work I had done last month for life ins. Policy!  Thankfully they didnt deny me, but my premium did go up a little.  I had my Primary run tests again to make sure, and the test did come back positive to the virus. Unfortunately the doctors they referred me to was on vacation the last 2 weeks in August, so my app. is next wed...ugh.  Finally!!! All this reading on line is stressing me out lol. Never shared needles or tattoos but I did find out I had a blood transfusion at Birth.  I was very sick when born, and spent 4 month at Children's in Boston.  I just requested records so now I'm just waiting.  I also just told my mom and she's getting tested tomorrow just to see if she actually has it and possibly gave it to me.  Im just trying to find out "how" I got this?? I may never know but a little research doesn't hurt!!!  I'm pretty healthy otherwise but a little over weight.  I started going to the gym, stopped drinking and joined a weight loss program and lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks.  Its a start to a healthy new me going forward with this diagnosis....thanks for reading:)

Hi 247,

I have results here but I really don't understand them, I will find out next Wednesday when I see my specialist.  My Primary did look at my results and said the numbers were high. Looking at it now this is what it reads: HCV RNA QUANTITATIVEREAL PCR 352228 <43 IU/ML. So not sure how high that is?  Well I hope your doing ok?  Its very frustrating not knowing how we got it! Its nice to have the support of people going through the same thing! I do believe that there could only be a 5 percent chance of getting it through sex!? I've been with my husband for 19 yrs and he tested negative..thank god!  My daughter will have to be tested next, but she starts school tomorrow and don't want her to worry about this right now. Well chat later :)
