Good Question - I had the same experience 10 years ago. I did 11 weeks then stopped. I think their treating me as treatment naive because it was very long ago that I did it and I did respond. Not sure. I'll ask my NP about it next week. Anybody have any ideas?

One other important think I forgot to ask and it's the following :    Since he was a RESPONDER   after achieving UND at wk 6, 8 , 10

for further treatments what would he be considered as? He did not RELAPS because he never finished the full treatment, he's NOT tx naive because he was on one...

any ideas?

Hi Mena, good to hear from you!  I`m not sure that Angelo quite fits into any of the standard categories.  Maybe a `partial responder` which refers to someone who experiences at least a 2-log decrease in viral load during the early part of tx, although it usually refers to people who have relapsed further along and not cleared the virus by the end of tx.  Maybe he would just be considered `treatment experienced`.

Great that Angelo is feeling so much better anyway, it must be such relief for you both to be getting back to normal life!  As for his viral load, it`s impossible to predict exactly how it will go for him but just keep hoping for the best and we`ll all keep our fingers crossed!

Keep in touch, and take good care of each other...smile

Hi Mena and Angelo, I'm glad you two are getting back to somewhat normal. You guys went through so much. My wishes too, for Angelo to SVR. Miracles do happen.

Hi Mena, it's nice to hear from you and to know Angelo is recovering from that awfully bumpy road you were both following. I believe he has the record for bad side effects from treatment, especially as short as it was. I'm so glad that it was stopped and you both were spared anything further. As far as the fluctuating glucose levels, that's common and should return to a steady normal given a few months of recovery. Mine is doing the same thing and the doctor says its common and to not worry about it. As far as the VL returning, it's hard to say. Wouldn't a prayer be answered if the Lord decided that Angelo paid enough for his attempt to reach SVR and made it so? I'll say a prayer for you both! I'm glad things are getting back to normal, take your time and don't be in a rush. Best of luck to you and your familybiggrin

Let's see....Angelo stopped TX on August 16  ( 7 weeks into TX) due to very low Hgb 8.5  and Hepatocrit 25.9  levels. platelets 42

The blood transfusion and 1 injection of procrit only minimally increased the levels .

So to avoid other unwanted complications NO MORE TX!

Since 8/16 I gave him 2 more procrit injections and the last CBC done on 9/3 showed the hgb at 12.1 and hematocrit at 37.6 platelets 49

The only result that puzzles me is his glucose levels,  they have been fluctuating like crazy. going from mormal to high to normal.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

At 6 wks he was UND, at 8 UND and now 10 wks with no tx for 3 wks. still UND !

I wanted to know if anyone can tell me how long does it take for the VL to come back after stopping tx?

The doctor said Angelo should be  back to his old self within 2 to 3 months.

It's only been 3 weeks today and actually it seem like all this mess did not happen at all.

He had not driven since starting on June 25 because he just did not feel he could have handled it, but today he drove again and was very happy to be in the driver's seat again!

All of you have been so supportive and helpful to me and I learned so much from all the info you shared.

I come to this forum everyday to read any updates.

I wish everyone a successful outcome to your TX!!!!

Be well!

Mena
