Hi Perry,

There is no absolute cutoff for cirrhosis on Fibroscan. A score of 11.5 could still be cirrhosis, particularly as your AST/ALT ratio is >1, and you had changes on your Ultrasound in August, 2013. Don't leave it too long before you get treatment. Fibrosis progression is fastest in Geno3. Good luck.

Thanks for that Tig. I wasn't to sure of the scores as have seen the F1 - F4 mentioned a few times but now I know. As for the run yes it is a tough one but 2 years ago managed run around NZ in 70 days ( 5000 kms) which is slightly less than across America. Have looked after myself pretty well - but could also do more!!!- so still banking on it all happening. Could be a big year all around!!!!

Hello Perry,

I see your fibroscan score is elevated, but as your nurse stated stated, 12.5 is the point when cirrhosis has occured. 11.5 KPa is still considered F-3 when compared with the biopsy metavir score. Cirrhosis isn't diagnosed until you reach either the metavir score of F4 or a fibroscan KPa of 12.5. Have you ever had a biopsy done? I would encourage you to start treatment before either of those things happen.  Good luck Perry, keep us informed and stay healthy! Coast to Coast America is a long and arduous run, make sure your liver and body are ready for such a demand.

Best, Tig

Hi all. Been fairly quite for me the last few months - the old waiting game!!!! Had a fibroscan finally just before Xmas - haven't seen the full results but at the time the nurse said my score was 11.5 - she said above 12.5 would mean cirosos but mine would be early signs of. Am on the waiting list for treatment - pity I wasn't closer to Auckland as they were doing a trial for 3a's s- so at present it is the traditional treatment. Could be 6 months waiting but time will tell. Am still planning to run across America in Sept/Oct so will have have decisions to make at some point!!!!Am managing to keep up with 250 kms per week training and am sure this has helped. Hope all are okay.
