Welcome, Carrie.  So glad to hear your doc is prescribing this protocol for you.  It knocks down the VL so quickly. I have just over a week to go.  Side effects for me have been minimal.  And it appears to be the same for most of our community on these two drugs.  Have you heard yet if the Olysio has been approved?

Hi Carrie,

Welcome to the group.  I hope the Olysio get approved for you soon.  The two DAA are very powerful and show good results quickly for us.

Is your doctor also adding Ribavirin to the meds combo ?

I have heard of a few others in other HCV forums that are only on the combo, seems that the Gastro docs are now considering the combo without Riba and or Interferon.

I just completed 12 weeks and was UND from day 18.  and I hope to soon to report SVR results.

Before you know it, you will be doing the same.

Stay strong and good like with your fight.

Hi Carrie, I guess we can welcome each other  smile  I too am a relative newcomer to the forum.  I started treatment on the Sovaldi/Olysio just over 3 weeks ago.  No need to be scared about starting on these meds.  The side effects are nothing compared to the interferon/riba, and the SVR/cure rate is high.  Glad you are about to get started. Hope the treatment goes well for you, and SVR is in your future.

Hi Carrie,

Welcome to the forum. Hoping you'll stick around and keep us updated on your progress. ;)  Approvals can take awhile. Some go smoothly, others don't. Rest assured it will be worth the wait. They are remarkable drugs and feedback from those on therapy has been overwhelmingly positive. I'm guessing you are genotype 1, given the prescribed combo?

Once your scripts are approved, be sure to stay on top of the refill process. This is very important! We have members who have had troubles with refills as they move through treatment. It's driven by the cost/coverage issues of the new meds. It doesn't seem to affect everyone, but play it safe anyway. Ask any questions you may have about that and we will be sure to answer. Best of luck to you.

Hi Carrie,

I was biting at the bit to get mine approved. Finally, it came. Stay strong and steadfast, but most of all stay patient.

Welcome!

Carrie you will see results so fast. My VL was at 8million on Jan 1st, two weeks later it was 383. I was up and around and even cooking everyday, my wife loved it. she did the dishes tho :o) These meds kick butt.

Hi Carrie,

I'm sure you have seen all of the great information on this forum.  It's sounding individual specific on time frames.  Some people are getting the meds approved in a few days, some in a few weeks.  The important factor is you have been approved for the Solvaldi as that is the backbone to the new, and very successful treatments.

There are many people on this site that have and are helping me navigate the path to SVR.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

-Rob

Hello all. I am new at this and look forward to sharing my experience with the new drugs. Savaldi just approved me got my letter today. Now just waiting for olysio. My doc just started working with them. I am not sure how long it will take but savaldi took about 3months. I really hope it will be soon so I don't have to start over as I feel like crap everyday.
