I some how remembered who posted it. I guess my long term memory is still in tact!

Hi Caryn,

The one you posted is the same one that Lee had originally mentioned. That wasn't what he was looking for. I think the one I left was what he was looking for but he hasn't confirmed it yet. It's a good subject to get out there, because it would be awful to find out something like that after the fact. Once I discovered the possibility, I became even more cautious around the house. The possibility of household contamination is so high. I think while they're highlighting all the new treatments on TV and radio, I wish they would have an info-mercial on the subject. Just getting the information out there might very well prevent the possibility. There are people out there that know they are HCV positive and waiting for the day that fits into their idea of the perfect time to treat. In the meantime, they probably haven't even considered this being a possible means of infecting someone at home. Simply providing this information might raise their awareness and they might have better sanitary practices. Just a thought....

Hi Barnacle,

I believe this is the thread you are referring to. I've spoken to several nurses and the occasional doctor that didn't even consider this as a source of potential source of re infection. The possibility of infecting others using these items is well known, but few think about the chance of re infection. It's an important consideration!

nope, same one Lee posted. This one I believe was about how long the virus lives outside the body.

Isn't it amazing how we have so much knowledge at our finger tips. My Dr and nurses are always interested in info I bring in from this forum.

Thanks Lee, definitely sending that one along too but specifically this referred to someone who had actually reinfected themselves after UND.

I mentioned to my nurse about a thread I saw on here where someone had possibly reinfected themselves after UND from their own razor. She was very interested in a link to that post but I am useless at doing searches. I believe it was in a thread about how log the virus can live out of the body.

Can anyone help me find that post?
