Gilead has a least two things to consider regarding there pricing strategy.

#1- What Abbvie's price will be on there all oral treatment in Dec.2014 (Abbvie has the benefit of seeing how Sovaldi was receive by the Insurance and Medical institutions.) If they price higher that Abbvie then they will lose their lead in the HepC cure race.

#2- What will be the price difference between Sovaldi and the new combo SOL & LDV because most of the study trials for SOL & LDV have been for GT1. So Sovaldi will still have a place in the market  Also what Gilead has to factor is, if they lower the price of Sovaldi to low then the other Drug companies that piggyback on Sovaldi like J&J and BMS could undercut the price of the new Gilead combo (SOL & LDV)

Its a real possibility that the new combo will be just 10% or 20% higher than Sovaldi that way they could compete with both Abbvie and any off label combo. (Just a thought)

Pure speculation at this point, but I don't believe the cost will be this high. Gilead's feeling the heat. I suspect it will be reflected in the fall prices. Keeping the coupon program intact is critical, though.

Jimbob,

Yes, S/O is close to $150,000 together. It's a little depressing for those trying to obtain a int/riba free tx. Like Tig said, let's hope Support Path is here to stay.

Presently, isn't Sovaldi /Olysio combo the same price? Plus, I think the Sovaldi/Ledispavir combo will be more potent.

I still think if Express Scripts offered to buy in bulk, like 11 million worth at a time, but at half cost, "to recover initial cost-they would have to do it 100 times but that is feasible, "  When Gilead is operating in the margins the stock holders would get plenty, The demand is there why not??

When they say "sustainable" they mean "lower" cost, unless I'm misunderstanding what you're referring to in the article. My reading of it is just pretty much the same old story, the insurance companies are complaining about the high cost while the drug companies are claiming it's justified.
