I too have a great employment plan and was fully expecting to take a large part of my 48wk treatment time at home treating my disease but luckily my current treatment (12wk) has me feeling better than ever. I keep waiting for these Sx everyone is talking about to kick in but mine have been quite minor so far and my work on a tug boat demands me to be fully functional in a very challenging environment.

So far so good for me...

I was blessed with co-workers and supervisors who were understanding as I walked through much of the 48-week treatment in zombieland.  I had better days and worse days, needed lots of rest, often coming home to a nap and early bedtime.  Sometimes I had to take a day off and that was necessary and much needed.  A few times I had to leave and come home during the day, feeling so sick.  That was not fun.  I work as a teacher, mostly EH and Autistic kids, so the job can be pretty intense at times.

It is good you have the FMLA to help you.  Fighting this disease is tough enough by itself and patients should not have to worry about keeping a job or getting medical care when you are trying your best just to walk in the door and contribute whee you can. 

I only knew how bad I felt during tx after I started feeling better once it was over.  There was always a will, but often there was no way.  Now I feel so much better, and so will you once you are free from this virus.  Good luck, sending positive healing thoughts your way.

Hi,

 I am doing sovaldi and ribavirin while working full time and attending school part time. I have missed two days work. The worst part for me has been the fatigue. No anemia but I am taking blood energy iron pills which have helped. Hang in there, you said that you are feeling a bit better so hopefully that trend will continue. Good luck. I have two more weeks to go and am looking forward to getting it over with. Good that we both have understanding bosses. Mine even allows me to lay down for a bit when we aren't busy but I work for an agency that stresses self care. I am blessed

  HCV Genotype 3a , now Psot-Tx was on S/riba. First VL was 5.8 mil on 7-5-13 then "und" at 3.8 weeks. 06/13/14 still und. off meds 3 days back on 7/29 Last pill 08/10/14 SVR+4

TazKat Genotype 1A null responder x 3 riba & iterferon twice, relapsed from Incivek 2012 with only 12 weeks left to do. stage 4 mild cirrhosis 4/25/2014/ started sovaldi riba & interferon.. finished treatment 7/17/14  results 7/25  cleared..

It is apparent that in order to keep paying the insurance premium to cover the health cost. You need a Treatment that the side effects do not interfere with your ability to work.

This is a Non-Interferion treatment.  And if you can do away with Ribavirin even better!  But now is the time for me to cure this and the Sovaldi Ribavirin and a little help from the Family Medical Leave Act,  and I have been able thus far to work wile on treatment.  It is a factory type environment and the work can get demanding.   But under the FMLA I can avoid any dutys that cause me fatigue.  Lucky for me to have a job that allows for that!  Even still I have varying difficulty getting through the day.  On week 13 now and the side effects are starting to weaken and I feel stronger.  You could not do this without your employers and Co-workers support and You will need to use the FMLA to get you by without any penitently for absence or being late.
