Thank you for the update, tgcd.  I would expect all tx to be a series of both highs, and not so highs, even some lows.  I actually had moments of euphoria and even increased energy using what I consider to be the harshest HepC tx ever invented (at least it was for me): Incivek triple therapy.

I don't know if these feelings were because powerful drugs were effecting my brain chemistry, or because the virus was leaving, but I tend to believe it was the former.  It doesn't seem plausible that the hepatic and extra hepatic damage the virus can cause for decades would evaporate in a matter of days.

I think these things should be explained honestly and realistically to patients so they are not unprepared or devastated when side effects happen or the result is not what they had hoped for.   Optimism is great but nurses should be more careful of what they say; sometimes trying to make others feel better (by not being completely honest) is really only trying to make it easier on ourselves.

In any event, the important thing is that you are doing well, and hopefully on your way to SVR.  I think both highs and lows are normal and to be expected and have very little to do with how well the drugs are working at this stage.

Hello,

I'm not sure if anyone cares but I thought I would update anyone who does.  I have found it very useful, most times encouraging, to read about other peoples experiences.

I am on day 11 of the Optimist Clinical trial.  It involves taking Sofosbusvir and Simeprevir (Olyosio) 150 mg Once daily with food.  The first week I felt unbelievable.  I had energy and my mood was generally happy.  I had no Physical changes.  The past two days I am feeling good but I'm back to being a bit more sluggish and my mood isn't as "high."  Sorry if its TMI but I think it might be due to the fact that I am menstruating.  I'm not sure at this point, I Guess I will see in a few days.  I am hoping this energetic happy feeling comes back and stays with me throughout my journey.

When I told the clinical trial nurse that I was feeling great she said it was because I have had this virus in me all these years I am finally feeling like I should be.  I never thought of it that way.  Though I am not clear of the virus at this point, I am fighting it instead of it fighting me.  This in itself is pretty darn awesome!

thanks,

T
