I would try just the xanax but its your call not mine ok. Its nice here but very hot a few hours beginning around 2:00, flattens me so i have learned to lie down.  Riba and interferon are so difficult of a ride so i see why you take the xanax. After treatment try to come off those, they are very hard on our lives, they also can produce a lot of fatigue and xanax did cause me to be a bit off base in my interactions with others, now i am more sober than a judge! Ha ha but i love it! I know your heat, grew up in alabama! HawIi will be great when i can go back out into the sun to swim and such, Olysio makes us light sensitive so I must stay inside but its over with soon, hopefully my virus will die this time...aloha dear

Good goong woman, I can hear it in your posts! Plus sounds like times are both good plus hard, still you are holding steady in the storms! I tii finish in August. Had new developmeny muyself, for first time ever edema in my feet and ankles, could not cycle for two nights and it made my head spin some but my doctor put me on a wee bit of fluid med and I am ok now plus I am napping in the hottest part of the day. I was able to have 400 milligrams of sodium a day and I dropped that down to 200 or 300. So I am trying! Its nice to wake up and read good news here! Aloha, keep up the good work with yourself...

my cousin will be helping me later in the day to vacuum some more out. it all sunk with some chemicals.. good news. jut have to keep working little bit by little bit. it will get there. my labs were down & now she wants me to come back in two weeks instead of 4 & then 2 weeks after that.& that will be the last labs. yay.. just wish I knew something. but oh well. can not wait for august to get here. all meds over & maybe energy & back will be better. back was bad this morn. interferon is what is helping it hurt plus I have a lower back prob anyway. it is heck getting older. & 59 is not old but I feel 75. lol that will get better in time too. no more treatments. but I know this one has worked because I have suffered thru this one for sure. biggrin

Everything I have read says only tylenol. this sounds just awful. Do you have an emergency number for your doctor. I did riba and interferon shots for a year and it was the worst experience of my life but I do not recall your kind of back pain. Could you be seriously constpated? That can make me horribly ill and cause back pain. Are you urinating as much as you usually do, if not that causes horrible back pain. Can you soak in a hot tub of water? Do you have a heating pad? Those still are all my issues, urine flow, constipation and relief from tylenol, soaking and a heating pad. I really am so sorry you are suffering but believe it will pass, you may be holding a trmendous amount of tension, I still do it at times and its later I realize how much tension I had. I am in Hawaii or I would have replied sooner. Poor darling, I hope you feel better soon. I know you are in too much pain right now but exercise really helps, everyday and lots of it. I am now on olysio and solvali, I have very serious cirrhosis but I exercise heaps and I suffer very little because of that. Ib for 42 years.

Hi Taz, sorry about your back, it sounds really painful. hmm

I know some people do find they get back pain while on interferon based treatment and somehow the aches and pains we usually feel can become a lot more pronounced while on tx, especially after the weekly shot.  Do tell your doctor about it though especially if it continues.

This isn`t easy for you, but do whatever you can to hold on and I hope your back eases up soon.

Let us know how it goes, we`re here with you!

Hiya Taz

Sorry you feel like crap. Have you ever had kidney stones?? Talk to your Doctor. I know the riba can be hard on kidneys and 8 weeks is about when the riba sx shows its ugly self. Drink LOTS of water. I had to get a transfusion at 7 weeks. I stayed anemic the rest of my tx so I know it was the riba.

Tig56, I think you may be right. I have some minor back probs anyway but not like this.it feels like the flu. sucks. I took a 500 Tylenol & ambien & 1/2 to try & let me rest. I am getting so sick of this. I only took 1 1/2 riba tonight.cuz the riba wreacks havoc on me too. took my reg dose this morn. I feel right now I just don't have the strength to do anything.i don't do labs til next friday. I know my anemia is bottomed. please pray I keep the strength, I am too close.  crydisbelief I can't wait to get done & hopefully svr & loose 15 to 20 lbs to get back into some nice dresses & pants I had bought that will be like a new wardrobe.. & to get my pool straightened out.i got some stuff & it looks like pure crap still.. oh well  take care of me.. that is the main thing.. Peace out  I will hae to say this is so much worse than the inceivek & the 26 weeks of the the interferon & riba.

Thank u jimbob!!

This is a weekend (I tend to forget now that I'm retired), so you might call your special pharmacy nurse or pharmacist and see if they've heard of this.

Hi Taz.

Around week 8/9 I had some lower back pain as well. At first, I thought it might be a pulled muscle, but then it started to feel like the kidneys. It became really pronounced when I hit golf balls. So, I did stretching excercises and quit swinging and it went away. However, I'd check with the doctor if I were you. Better to be safe. If mine had persisted or worsened, that's what I was going to do.

Only 4 more weeks Taz. It is so close.

Good luck.

Hi Taz,

Sorry you're feeling so badly. I honestly don't think that it's a side effect of your treatment. You could be suffering from some severe fatigue and muscle ache from treatment, but not a problem with treatment. I hope that makes a bit of sense! If you have had any problems with your skin or the sun, you might want to avoid a hot shower or bath, but it may be helpful to loosen up that muscle. Do you have a heating pad? I might start with some ibuprofen and have someone do some deep massage over the area. Applying a little heat to that one area with a heating pad for a period of 15 minutes on and 15 off for an hour or two at most should give you an idea whether or not it will give you some relief. I would definitely try some ibuprofen, most docs don't have a problem with it. When you can call the office, I would do that. Did you do anything that may have over exerted that area? It doesn't take much. Get off your feet and if you lie in bed, put a pillow under your knees. It will help relieve the tension on your back muscles. If you lay on your side, keep your knees folded up like you're in a fetal position, that will help too. So.... Apply some heat, ibuprofen, massage and keep your knees bent when lying down And call your doctor in the morning!

I would call one of your nurses, it might be related to Interferon, or you might have a different problem. When in doubt, shout. I hope you find some relief soon! Hugs
