Hi Rapidly, Tig is right, you`re not at any risk of catching Hep C or HIV in that way so there`s no need for you to worry about it.

On the other hand, if you`re suffering from long term excessive stress and anxiety about your health then I think you might need some help with that.  Ongoing anxiety is very draining and can take over your thoughts, and if it`s becoming a problem for you then do see your doctor and take some advice about the best way to deal with it.

Wishing you all the best, and I hope we`ve helped put your mind at ease.  smile

Hi Rapidly,

You don't have anything to worry about. It's impossible to contract HCV/HIV via the ingestion of food. Relax....

On the HCV no...you don't have to worry unless he was bleeding all over what you ate and even then it would probably be tough to survive the toxic environment of your digestive system.

I am not knowledgeable enough on HIV but again from what I do know I think your risk is very minimal.

If you ever have doubts ask your dr for a test....it's private and you'd have peace of mind.

Thanks for the answer! I've also hypochondriasis, so things are very hard for me to bear right now. Approximately 1% of the people in my country have hepatitis c, so chances are very low but hypochondriasis is killing me.

I've got tested twice, but my doctor told me that there is no need to get tested, so I argued with him on tests and got tested.

I've read that at least 12 weeks is needed for a conclusive antibody test, is that correct for ELISA test too?

Hi!

Two months ago I was hanging out with a friend, and a friend of my friend -which I don't know- offered us some fruit and we ate it. Since he probably washed that fruits with his own hands, is it possible for us to get hepatitis c or hiv ? I know, it may seem stupid to ask such a question but I am really curious about it. Of course I can't possibly ask him whether he has hepatitis c or not since I don't know him.

I got tested in the 47th day (elisa test) and the results were negative for hiv and hepatitis c.

Btw, I am male and virgin. I don't do drugs or something. So I am not in the risk group of STD's and hepatitis c as far as I'm aware of.

Should I be worried?
