Hi Liam, Glade to see you got through screening.  When I did the Gilead trial earlyer this year they were at the end of the screening period when I was asked to come in for screening, so it wasen't a long wait. About 4.5  weeks.  I will never forget the day one study visit, The first day of 16 weeks of sovl-riba. I'm looking forward to seeing how you do on this trial. The GS-5816 is new in Gileads war chest, And im hoping to get it some day  (gs-5816)   Best of luck to you   RC

Hi,

Tjere was no mention of the viral load test at 12 weeks in the consent forms they sent me. And there is no placebo in these trials. The doctor said Gilead introduced the 12  week wait later on.

My trial was a blinded trial with a placebo or the real medication.  For the screening blood draw the viral load was released, but on each subsequent draw it was blinded.  The reason for this was because they want to ensure that there was no "placebo effect" from patients.  I think the placebo effect is when someone thinks they are on a treatment, it can actually change side effects, when in fact they are taking a placebo.

Not sure on your trial.  If you read the full description of the trial, it should tell you what they are trying to accomplish.

They have been saying the trials will start since September ,so I am keeping my expectations low.

I just went through that wait for the AbbVie trial and I couldn't hardly stand the suspense! My initial screening was Sept 25th, then I had to go get an ultrasound Sept 30, and I finally heard back Oct 7. I was literally lying in bed thinking of the trial and wondering how much longer it was going to take to get the results of the blood work back and they called! I know you can't wait to get your call too. Stay strong!

Hey Liamc

I would guess that they want to take the psychological element out of the equation.

Hope and doubt can do special things in good ways and bad ways. So I hope you get excepted in the trial.

I'm  sure it is a metric they are focusing on the trial...not sure why it would matter but who knows what the scientist's have going on in their minds?

I have just been screened for the phase 3 sofosbuvir/gs5816 for 12 weeks or sofos and riba for 24 weeks for geno 3.

i will know in the next 2 weeks when my blood work is back if I am accepted or not.

i was told be the doctor that gilead does  not want our viral load disclosed until 12 weeks into the trial, does any one know why they would do this?

thanks
