Thank you Jill for your response. The reduction in Ribavirin dose is advised by my doctor as the Hb started reducing very fast.

Hi Swamy, welcome.

First of all, congratulations on your 4 week undetected viral load, you`re clearly responding very well to the treatment so far.

It`s not easy for us to respond to your question regarding treatment duration as Gilead has not given a dosage recommendation for people in your position who are on kidney dialysis, as you rightly say.  The usual advice would be to complete the whole course of treatment, but in your case I think you should be guided by your doctor.

Your Hb is certainly  low and at that level a reduction in ribavirin is usually the best course of action.  Did your doctor recommend taking it on alternate days?

Take it easy and rest when you need to, I`m sure you must be feeling pretty tired with such a low Hb level.

Wishing you all the best of luck!

Hi,

I am a Kidney patient on maintenance dialysis. I caught HCV 2 years back. I am taking Sofosbuvir and Ribavirin. This treatment is not recommended for Kidney patients. However my doctor and I decided to take chance. After four weeks of treatment, HCV PCR quantitative shows virus undectable and sensitivity of the test is < 0.0003IU/ml. I am still continuing the treatment and now completed 6 weeks. The recomended treatment with combination of Sofo+Riba is 24 weeks. Is it required to continue treatment for 24 weeks or should I stop after 12 weeks? Since I am a renal patient, due to Riba, my Hb dropped to 8. I was taking 200 mg per day initially and changed to 200mg alternate days and increased my erytho to 8000 units/week from 4000 units/week. Still Hb is around 8.2
