ID: Thats something you said that. I am haunted by the county CDC calling me in 1995 with the same. I was so infuriated and there wasnt a dam thing I could do about it with the risk of being ID'd. Health records are pulic knowledge. I didnt have to register, they already knew. Do I have to be reminded on the phone?? I wonder if other Forum members have been notified ? Sorry, I am not trying to hijack this thread.

Who does the reporting generally? I would think it was the dr. who make the diagnosis. ..but when I was first ill in 1978, they made me go and regester with the dept infectious diseases or some such place. It was completly humiliating. ..felt like I was having to regester like a sex offender. Pfst

This is a frightening statistic! Consider there are approximately 3-4 million cases of reported chronic HCV in the USA alone. If the CDC is correct and this number of acute cases goes unreported, of which 75% progress to chronic HCV, the number of people with chronic HCV is not going down, but up at an alarming rate. As testing becomes more mainstream (hopefully), I believe we're going to see these numbers increase significantly.

Do what you can to get the word out. Educate and advocate, get tested, get cured!
