Hi,

I also found an article on Hep c drug cost in one of the informational posts on hivandhepatitis.com  site.  It states that generic drugs actually cost about $200 for the 12 week treatment.    Here is an interesting excerpt for those needing financial help with the new drugs where they are not covered:

In the case of hepatitis C treatment, people could take matters into their own hands without waiting for governments. In Australia the FixhepC buyers club is working to assist individuals in buying generic drugs, carrying out quality testing to ensure that they contain active pharmaceuticals, and importing the drugs for personal use. (The FixhepC website contains details about import regulations regarding medication for personal use for Australia, New Zealand, the U.K. and the U.S., as well as details about how people can purchase medication from generic manufacturers).

Thanks, Tig.  I am doing pretty well for my age--beginning to have a few aches and pains and short term memory loss, but still am independent--drive, etc.  It can get a little scary.  I did not make plans for getting this old.  Glad I was a little wild when I was younger and lived in the Los Angeles area back then.  Lived at Venice Beach for a while during the "hippie" days.  Have lots of exciting memories to relive on boring days. Got clean and sober in 1966 so I even remember most of my adventures.

Just got the latest edition of hepcbc.ca .  It has several very good articles in it.  The article on drugs from India was excellent.  So were a couple of others, but I can't remember what they were.  It is a newsletter from Canada that generally has excellent info (not just about Canada).  Check it out.
