 Yes I am SVR 24 =  (Sustained Viral Response )  as of Dec 14th  I knew this would be my last time. I was disappointed at first that a lot of my symptoms didn't just go away at first, after 8 years of trying, 

But it's the cirrhosis and some other problems that I may have for awhile. I've had a long journey It's getting better, And I'm very happy for all this good news on success here with this new generation of drugs

Harvoni started 12-12-14 for 24 wks PrevTX Geno 1 stage 3 cirrhosis - non resp Int/ ribv. Started Trial  in Aug 2011 -July 2012 into Incivek relapsed  Feb 2013 Had 72 weeks on interferon & Riba.

The Pharmacy  called saying the prescription had been filled and was being sent down to the Dr's office. 12 weeks!

You know, I have known since I first had this disease that I had it. I knew I could beat the dragon for while but in the end, as I got older, the dragon would win. I have always known how I was most likely going to die.

Today, all that changed. Today I can beat the dragon. I no longer know how nor can I  even guess when I am going to die. It is a major change after all these years. It is an amazing change that I never felt before, being free of this disease.

I understand how confusing all of the abbreviations and acronyms can be! We set up an excellent guide to dicipher them and also to help set up a signature line. Bills Are you SVR  after that last round of Harvoni in 2014? ( I think SRV, I have a hard time remembering acronyms)

This disease has been a long lonely battle. Even my spouse could never understand why I wouldn't take Tylenol or allow a cup of wine in the spaghetti. I never made an issue of Hep C but I never concealed it either. I lived with it.

I am so glad I found this site. I would never have known about Harvoni or making that call without the good people on this site! You have saved my life and I thank you very much.

I am reading Wmjl's thread about how to deal with side effects. I still have a ride on the treatment train and I will be here often for more advice.

OUTSTANDING!!! I love it when we (you) take the argument directly to the people that are blocking our road to success and win the debate. Common sense and logic are so often forgotten by our insurance providers that it becomes necessary to wake them up and remind them. Sure sounds to me that you took the right approach and your point wasn't arguable. Well done!

The Dr asked for 12 weeks. The severe activity, A3, also, too many of the results are not borderline F2/F3, more borderline F3/F4. Platelet count is down, ALT/AST jumped from 72/88 to 117/149 in one month. The prothrombin time is not good. The Dr only did a fibrosure blood test. He may suspect a liver biopsy may reveal a different story. 

The Dr had to submit test results and his opinion why I should have the drugs immediately. He convinced the insurance company. I only flagged the insurer that there was a reason for exception to their policy. I have no idea if they changed the policy or made an exception.

Also, I perceive a reluctance by the primary care physician to giving Hep B inoculations to a Hep C patient. My PCP is a good and responsible doctor but why take a chance of infecting someone else by sticking needles into a Hep C patient? I am a health risk to that doctor. After I get rid of the Hep C, then my doctor who is worth much more than the drugs can safely treat me for anything. I was panicked when I thought I might have appendicitis. It is unethical to expose caregivers to my blood. That is my perception but then who am I.

TIG One phone call and my Harvoni was approved! The Dr is waiting for the prescription to be in the pharmacy! Thank you thank you Thank You, I made the call to the insurance and was approved immediately because of the active status without any cause except Hep C.

You said to call! I did, I was polite, I had the Dr submit the paper work and now APPROVED!

I am a Dragon Slayer Now!

(On an earlier thread, I reported my insurance would not approve Harvoni until I was inoculated for Hep B. 7 MONTHS! Tig suggested I call the insurance company and it was approved immediately! Thanks Tig and all the others who encouraged me to politely bring this issue to the insurers attention!)
