Welcome Silverecho. I understand the shame, guilt, remorse as I felt it too when first diagnosed in the early 90's. There is so much more knowledge and education now that it is not the stigma it once was. It is rare the disease is passed in childbirth and my twins are not affected and I am very happy to hear about your kids as well.

Read what you can about your treatment and others here will share with you helpful links. I know a lot of the fear is fear of the unknown. Our minds are so much worse than what it truly is We will be with you as your start this dragon slaying journey.

all best,

wendy

Hi Silverecho,

A fellow Canadian here. I too am fairly new to the site.

Please be assured you have found the right places, both here and on the 7th when you start your Zepatier.

Don't be scared, you are on the right path(s). You will be freed from fear. What a wonderful thing!

Here you will meet some very smart and helpful people to rely on. We will all help you. It will be OK, you'll see. What a good day Mar 7 will be for you

Expect replies from some of the others right shortly.

Your new friend, Canuck

Hi everyone, I have been very isolated in regards to this disease. I am in my late 30's, but I was diagnosed when I was 20 years old. I have carried SO much shame through my life because of this disease and it has affected my self esteem, my ability to seek relationships and it has also instilled a horrible level of fear of transmitting it to others. My first child tested negative, my second child initially tested positive but has since cleared the virus (thank god). I have wanted to do treatment for years but my specialist told me to wait for better treatments, and thankfully we finally have those! This week I was prescribed Zepatier. I will be starting it on March 7th. I'm very scared. I'm scared about the side effects, I'm scared it won't work for me and I'm even scared about how I'm going to feel if it does work. Ahh! I'm so glad to have found this site and this forum.
