Hi Eric,

Ditto on drinking 3-4 liters of water per day while on Tx ...

It's right up there with taking your meds exactly as prescribed every day.

Not to worry at all, your numbers are looking good ...

Greetings,

Indeed your numbers are pretty good. You will do fine.

One very important note is many Doctors, for some reason, don't thing to tell folks the importance of proper hydration while on these Meds.

You can really do yourself a favor by making sure you drink no less than 3.25 Liters of Water every day in particular during Treatment.

God Bless and keep us informed!

Hello Eric,

Your lab work looks great.  The numbers we`re particularly interested in are your liver enzymes, ALT and AST, and yours are only a little elevated above the normal range, which is fine considering that you have Hep C.

Good luck with starting your Viekira Pak treatment, it`s an excellent therapy and you should do very well!

Best of luck, do keep in touch!  smile

(By the way, I`ve edited you post because your results appeared twice.)

Hello Eric , and welcome

You have found a good place with members who can provide great insight into all things HCV and show care for your long term welfare.

Find a good Gastro Doctor if you haven't already, it can make a big difference in your success or failure in treatment.

Welcome Eric. Your level of inflamation is very low. (AST. ALT) These numbers show your level of inflamation as your liver secreats it's defense. Looks like the dragon has set up his picnic table. My level was well over 9mil. when I was diagnosed. You have caught this beast very early. So get Vikera pac and do start.

1A requires Ribavirin. Your 4 week bloodwork will probably kick that level apart easily. I and other members of this forum agree you do have the 96% percent chance of a cure. Do keep us informed. Good luck to you.

Hi Eric,  welcome,   your numbers look great, the V-PAK works, and you soon will be free from the virus at such a young age.   You truly are so lucky at this time in our history that  there are such amazing treatments to kill the virus.   A lot of us never dreamed there would be a cure  in our lifetime.   We all are blessed.  Thank God for all the research and one day this all will be a memory.  No one will need to suffer again and for this I am truly grateful.

Take care of your self and God Bless!

Hi Eric, and welcome from me also.

I agree with Tig; you are lucky, and you have an excellent opportunity to put HCV behind you and move on with your life. And your luck includes finding this forum as we have a great bunch of helpful and knowledgeable members here that are willing to help you put this behind you. Have a look around the forum and notice the search function up top ^^^ which can help find topics that have been discussed previously. Also you can create your own signature with information specific to you. More info on doing that can be found HERE as well as a link to definitions for all the abbreviations you'll be seeing in member post and signatures.

We hope you'll stick around and keep us up to date on your progress. I too will be interested to find out why your doctors lab listed undetected on a test result with 2.65 mil viral load. I hope you get started on Viekira Pak soon and I wish you well for a successful outcome and a happy Hep C free life. smile

Hi and welcome, Eric.

Your Viral Load is 2.65 million i.u./ml. This is moderate.

Your Lab has an unusual way of expressing results.

All the other tests are normal. Your ALT is excellent, so you shouldn't have much liver damage.

Do you know your Genotype? I presume it's Geno 1 if you are being offered Viekira Pak.

Good luck and keep us informed. Cheers.

Hello again Eric,

Your original post was properly placed, there was just some confusion. Nothing to worry about!

Your blood work is absolutely perfect in my opinion, with the exception of the viral load. I'm still confused why they list your viral load at 2.5 million IU/ml but then state UNDETECTED. The only time you will see the mention of undetected viral counts is when there is no virus to quantify (count). The current lower levels of quantification are typically <15 IU/ml. If your viral count is below that and the test still detects the virus it will say <15 IU/ml "Detected". If it's truly undetected, it says <15 IU/ml Undetected or just Undetected. Check with your lab or doctors office and ask why they listed it that way.

Your ALT and AST are in fine shape, as is everything else. When your liver starts to inflame and the disease process gets moving forward, you will see those two tests begin to elevate. You appear to be getting this treatment at the perfect time, before damage is done. I also was infected by a bad tattoo back in the 80's. I wasn't as lucky as you and had the virus for many years before finding out. I ended up with advanced fibrosis and complications from the virus itself. It can affect many systems adversely. You're a very lucky man to have been approved so quickly and without significant damage. It has been difficult for many here to get approval for these treatments until their disease was more advanced. You should go out and buy a lottery ticket next time you go to the store! You're very lucky.
