Hi Kristy,

Welcome! Congratulations on starting this awesome treatment. You're already well on your way. It will help us if you fill in some information on yourself though. You'll notice most of us have info in the signature line at the bottom of our reply posts. That lets us know your genotype, treatment regimen and whatever else you feel like sharing. I'll leave a link below.

I wouldn't be concerned about smoking that but as Wendy and Jimmy mentioned, it's wise to pass it up while on treatment. My doctors drug screened me as well. They feel that the use of anything during treatment (especially insurance companies), indicate a lack of determination and fear that drug use could lead to risky behavior or lack of compliance, which may result in treatment failure. Some are very strict.

If you stay compliant, drink lots of water and treat yourself right, this will be a done deal in no time. Good luck! We're here to help...

Day 8 on harvoni, miss a good beer! Feeling good n grateful though. I have smoked a bit of pot, what's the major consensus on that one?

Greetings and welcome. I am right ahead of you on day 11.

Many here, including myself, have a history of recreational drug use. Priorities determine what we do with it.

Some have given it up for God. Some for children, other loved ones, health and the like. Some have given it up because they are in the County Jail and there is none.

In this fight with the Dragon, the stakes are high. It is literally a life and death struggle and it is best to approach the fight head on and without the slightest doubt that we are doing all in our power to win.

The question regarding pot demonstrates the existence of an unknown and that begs the question why take the risk?

I will assume you are on an 84 day regiment of Harvoni. Maybe less maybe more. That is a very small portion of your life and right now you need to devote yourself to this fight.

I would never condemn the use of pot although I don't use it anymore. I feel it is a stupid law if ever there was one so my approach to this answer is not from a moral standpoint.

The battle I am in has my 100% and it is a battle I share along side my wife. NOTHING for which there is any doubt has any room in this battle. We intend to win and we will do so.

My position may not be the same as others so it may be outside of any consensus, but this time is devoted to the fight and the fight alone.

Again, welcome to the Family!

per the protocols of the meds, it is recommended to refrain from any drugs/alcohol. Most insurance companies require a full drug and alcohol panel before starting treatment (mine did) and if it is discovered you are using they can stop approval for the meds and I would hate to see that happen to someone that was afforded this opportunity. But if you are on medical marijuana that can be different and I would think your doc is aware of that. If it is recreational use, I would wait till your TX is finished as why jeopardize it? Most of us have shared all herbs, supplements and medications we take with the doc that put us on TX.
