They'll see it here, I'm sure. The search function will lead people right to it. I wish I could say I had some improvement in my tinnitus. Unfortunately I have a constant high pitched scream all day and at night it sounds like someone left the outside hose on full blast, right next to my head! I can't begin to tell you how many times I have had to go outside and check to be sure I turned it off... Annoying! no

Thanks. Tig. I posted it there because I was hoping to hear from people who have had successful treatment. But they probably look at this area, too. I just wondered if anyone who has cleared the virus has then experienced improvement of their vitiligo or tinnitus.

Hi Sherri,

I haven't experienced vitiligo at any point during my decades with the virus, but there are studies that indicate it could be another one of the many extra hepatic manifestations from HCV. The information is fairly scarce though. The mention of interferon associated relationships to it are mentioned occasionally as you mentioned, but not a lot of supporting proof in that respect. There doesn't seem to be much talk about treatment or cures either.

Tinnitus is something I've dealt with for ages and it got quite severe during my last round of treatment. I was on the interferon triple with Victrelis. When I began taking it, the tinnitus really got worse and persisted throughout treatment. I tried Melatonin, which reduced it temporarily, but that didn't last long. It can be almost debilitating at times. I have heard from some people that improvements have happened slowly, but it's difficult to say whether these drugs cause temporary or permanent hearing loss. I'm afraid in my case I'm dealing with a long term problem.

I moved this to the general discussion section.

I have had vitiligo for about 25 years and tinnitus for a long time, too. I would like to know if anyone with either condition who had successful treatment experienced any change in said conditions after SVR. There are documented correlations but no definite cause/effect (yet) evidence with the vitiligo, so I'm hopeful that it will reverse someday if I ever go through treatment. I've seen studies on temporary vitiligo during interferon treatment that reverses after treatment, but nothing about preexisting vitiligo prior to treatment. I hope I am posting this in the right category. Please let me know if it should be elsewhere.
