Hello Taira, welcome!

Am I right in thinking that this is your situation so far?

- You were diagnosed with Hep C 4 years ago

- Further blood tests came back showing that your viral load was very low?

- You were told that you didn`t need any treatment just now?

- And you want to have blood tests done while you are in the UK to confirm that?

As a visitor to the UK you can register with a GP (General Practitioner) as a temporary patient if your viist is less than 3 months.  You need to find a GP Surgery near to where you are staying, and ask if you can be registered as a visitor.  When you have an appointment to see a doctor (GP) you can ask whether you can have a Hep C viral load done and the doctor will tell you whether this is possible.  As you are only here for 1 month there will not be much time to arrange blood tests and wait for results.

I hope that helps, and I hope I have understood your situation.  I wish you the best of luck... smile

Hi Tiara,

I have something similar on my hands and face sometimes, and I was diagnosed with a form of eczema. I think it is an allergy based one that I only developed this year. I was on no medication so it is an immune system dysfunction. The best thing is to have a Doctor look at it, but I don't think its a direct result of Hep C, but more a challenged immune system problem as I have no fibroses. Perhaps others can add to this?

You shouldn't drink any alcohol as this can accelerate the disease progression, nor can you drink on medication if you are given any. I think some of the others can advice better on your symptoms as I don't know if it is eczema. I think you mean you were advised to not drink, I had to read that twice. :)

Ciao Taira,

The answer is you must be registered by a doctor, he must make tests and then you will be referred to a specialist. Currently, I do not believe you can treat any faster than in Italy because they have a lack of funds in the UK.

You stated you were tested in Italy and you were told you do not need to treat currently. Do you know what genotype you are?

Lisa

I believe what you are being told is that you are positive for the Antibody but not the Virus itself.

I also believe you are asking for help in navigating the Health System in England. Maybe someone can chime in on that?

God Bless

Hello Tania,

From this as well as the message you sent me I believe you are saying,

1) You are detected for the Hep C Anti Body.

2) However your further analysis came back good.

It is possible you have come in contact with but not gotten Hep C. Maybe 20% of people infected fight the virus by immune system.

Have your Doctor send you to a specialist. A hepatologist. Have that specialist run a HEP C RNA test. Then we will go from there.

God Bless You and we will do what we can to help. Clearly there is a bit of a language barrier but that is ok. We will work through that too! wink

Hi there

Welcome to the forum.

How was the diagnosis made?  The first step is to see your general practitioner and ask him or her to refer you to see a hepatologist.

Pablo
