Hi Miriam,

The test you are sharing here is known as the the Fibrosure or Fibrotest. It is a blood marker examination that uses an algorithm to determine liver fibrosis. Looking at your results indicates low levels of fibrosis and inflammation. The HCV RNA is listed twice, the 5.3 is the Log number, which is another (old) way of documenting it. It is identical to the other number, 234003. That is the quantitative viral load, 234,003 IU/ml. That's fairly low in the scheme of things. It is the number that we work to see undetected. The actual viral load doesn't determine one's likelihood of a cure. In some treatments, if you haven't treated previously, a score of less than 6 million may qualify a person for 8 weeks of treatment versus 12.

Steatohepatitis generally refers to fatty liver. It is treatable. People with genotype 3 often have issues with fatty liver. However, it's not limited to that genotype and your doctor can advise you of corrective measures. Achieving SVR is one of the best things you can do to get things back on track!

Had bloodwork done before going on Harvoni- 6/2016

     Alpha-FE                          9.3                                                           NecroInflammat ACT Score                  0.18

HCV RNA                         5.37                                                          Fibrosis Score                                      0.48

HCV RNA                         234003                                                     Necroinflammat ACT Grade                 A0-A1

     HCV RNA                           1a                                                           Apolipop                                             192

     ALT                                   30                                                          Haptoglobin                                          93

     Alpha-2                          389                                                           GGT                                                     47

     Fibrosis                           Stage 2                                                     Bilirubin                                               0.4

Is the 234003 the number I am trying to get to undetected?

Last biopsy was in 2002 by Ira Jacobson.   Showed Chronic hepatitis C- Grade 2 of 4 (mild activity)  /stage 2-3 of 4.

Also said something about Steatohepatitis, Grade II, stage II.  What is this? Does this need different treatment? Treatable?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Miriam
