Hey Breeze,

I saw your request for recipes. There might be something in our Nutrition Section that may interest you. If you like smoothies, check out the Green Smoothie Ranch. We had some fun in that section!

Hi Canuck and Mzmiffy, Can't seem to reply just to one or other, so as you're both asking a similar question, here's an answer. I haven't had any post treatment tests!! I've also just checked my email archive and it's over 4 years since SVR. I feel fine but I have to admit that it's often in the back of my mind that I should get a LFT or Fibroscan sorted out. Thanks for the heads up. Hope you're both well and any good recipes Mxmiffy?

Hi breeze,

Welcome here from me too (another x-3).

Thanks for letting us know about your very sustained cure!

That was a long haul, twice run!, through 6 months of treatment (on what, the same int/riba as the second time around?) and then, a year of int/riba for your 2nd try with ultimate success, (my!), but, you did it!!

Where do you hail from?

What kind of follow-up did your doc give you post-treatment in the last 3 years? You say you have been clear of the virus for 3 years (but when were your last viral loads and LT's, labs, fibroscan or imaging done?).

The regular periodic follow-ups, as recommended, are rewarding, as they re-confirm all is well, and as a bonus, perhaps will show you even more improvements!! What state was your liver in pre-treatment(s) and post-treatment??

After 3 years of sustained cure, I am betting many things have improved for you!. More good news to look forward to every time you get labs done! smile C.

Hi Tig56 and JimmyK, Thanks for your posts which have made me feel a whole lot better. I may still go for another test as it's something that I've been putting off for quite a while. I haven't looked through the forum much yet and am wondering if many people out there have relapsed i.e. the virus returned, after many years? I had geno 3 and also had treatment twice over although the second time had combination of Interferon and Ribovirin for a year rather than the previous 6 months. Anyway I agree JImmyK that SVR adds to the blessings of being alive.

LOL forgive me. But given the subject matter.... "spot on" ?

Dude! LOL

Breeze please make yourself at home. New folks can always use a word from us Elders before them. Oh and we have fun here. In between the need for solid information, a hand up or down, we are committed to enjoying the life and day we are blessed with. SVR adds to those days. wink

Hello and welcome from me as well! We're glad you found us. Congrats on your past SVR, I'm always happy to hear another dead Dragon tale!

I remember back in the 80's, they were selling betacarotene pills for quick and sunless tanning. It was the old "Carrot Tan" and looked silly as all get out! I found that carotenemia most often presents itself first in the hands. You seem to represent the exact definition of someone that may be prone to it. If you're not experiencing any other symptoms that would indicate otherwise, I think the ol Jimster may be spot on!

Glad to help. If you are a vegan, then the likelihood is far greater that this is a reaction to high levels of beta carotene.

All the best.

Hello JimmyK

Thank you for the welcome and for the advice. I think that's very wise and I've just read that it could be a condition called Hypercarotemia which is caused by eating foods containing high levels of beta-carotine. Looking at the fruit and veg list, this could well be true as I'm vegan and eat vast quantities of these foods. I feel really cheered that it could be this as i'd been feeling down about it. I will go anyway and have a test as at least there could be another reason for my fingers looking yellowish. Aside from that my eyes etc are white and I feel good. Thanks for the answer and hope you are well. x

Welcome to the Forum.

This as simple as a high level of Beta Carotene can cause that. I certainly would not attribute it to being clear or not.

Go to the Doctor, do a simple bilirubin test. That is where I would start.

All the best

JimmyK

Hi guys, I'm around 3 years post treatment and as far as I know still clear. However I've become self conscious about my hands when out in the light of day as my fingers look yellowish. I guess I should go and have another test but feel if I could have some reassurance from those who maybe have the same but know they are clear, that I would feel more able to go and have the test to see if I'm still clear. Maybe it's some residue that I didn't really notice in the past? Hope to hear from somebody out there. Thanks
