Greetings,

That is one of those questions that you probably already knew the answer too but had to ask anyway.

You are on a very effective treatment plan, but remember, it is all part of a plan to get you healed. You have a day of celebration to look forward to and it is best to hold off until then.

Welcome! wink

Hey Runner,

Just noticed you are another Maple Leafer! Nice to have another Canuck on board. We have had quite a few other Canadian members here (over time). I would be be very interested to know how hard, or easy, it was for you to get epclusa in your Province, being that the roll-out here (generally across Canada) seems extremely fudge-like slow compared to US and UK, and still remains spotty Province to Province. Doubly well done for you then that you won epclusa. Our first here by "prescription", that we knew of, was "Ruby Red" in Ontario. Do let us know how you are faring. smile C.

Dear Deb,

First, welcome to the forum! So glad you're on the road to the cure, SVR12. Epclusa is the real deal and will put this virus to bed permanently. As long as you do your part and live the life of abstinence. Alcohol is BAD, BAD, BAD for anyone with HCV. Especially for people on treatment. Don't risk minimizing your odds of success while increasing the damage to your liver. If your insurance company tests you for alcohol or drugs during treatment (to protect their investment) and you come up positive for either, you can be denied further drug approval. Just don't do it!

Drink no less than a gallon of water per day (pretend it's right off the vine) and you'll be far better for it! smile

Hi Runner,

Congrats on getting epclusa!

Absolutely a flat out NO to ANY alcohol whatsoever.

DO NOT jeapordize the good work you two (you and epclusa) are doing in trying to cure your infection.

Your liver is in a VERY compromized state right now, DO NOT add any huge burden on your liver, such as having to deal with alcohol.

Absolutely forbidden, no matter how hard the temptation is.

It is a very big investment you are making in trying to cure your HCV, and preserve your future liver function. DO NOT cause your lver any more hardship than what it is already going through.

Others here have said it is like throwing fuel onto a fire, and I thought that was a good description of what alcohol can do to your sick liver right now.

Drink LOTS and lots of water, find other juices and fluids to drink - drinking a gal of water per day is very important - do that and you will likely not have room for, nor thoughts of wine - be "water-logged". Wine - DON"T DO IT.

How are you feeling otherwise? C.
