Hi marjim,

Hm, hard to say WHAT that means! Very hard for you to decipher what is going on with your brother without more details. Do you have any info you could further share, even about just general health hx on your brother? Has he been sharing, expressing any health hx/complaints with you, for you to piece together what this newest bit of info may be telling you? Has he been sharing with you HOW sick he has been feeling, or or how long?

All I can tell (from this) is that he has probably been diagnosed (a good thing to even know you have hep c), that he is seeing the doc (repeatedly), and that he and you (and they) know that he needs treatment - so half the battle is won - just in the knowing that you need treatment.

The words "without hepatic coma" is rather odd terminology, when expressed in isolation, without any other info to go on (no context), so, take it as a positive - as no one wants to have hepatitis AND have hepatic coma! Who knows ... "coma" could even be a typo, or mis-expression, or mis-understanding, it could be they were meaning "without cirrhosis" - it is very hard to be guessing without further hx.

Have a long talk with him, see what you can glean from him as far as how he has been doing with his health, that might assist you in figuring out where he is at. Suggest to him to obtain written reports from his doc, as to his labs/imagings/fibroscans/ultrasounds and the docs assessment reports on him, and what his Fscore is, perhaps, between all of us we can help you or him figure things out.

How are YOU BTW? - glad to hear from you again - no doubt you passed your SVR12, 24 with flying colours. How have YOU been feeling/doing?

Sorry to hear your brother has to have treatment, but glad he has been diagnosed and will get the treatment he needs. Keep us posted, if we can offer any help. I am curious as to how it wll play out for him (and you). C.

Hi-- My brother was just given diagnosis "hepatitis C without hepatic coma".

I know what hepatitis C is but what does without hepatic coma mean? My brother  lives by himself in another city. Nobody to go with him to doc. They just gave him diagnosis and told him he has to go on meds. I don't think they explained much or if they did, he didn't understand. Couldn't get an appointment before May 30.
