About FibroMeter - another fibrosis test

 What are the results provided by FibroMeter VIRUS?

The FibroMeter VIRUS test (Viral Hepatitis) assesses the stage of liver fibrosis in patients with chronic viral hepatitis (B, C) with or without HIV co-infection.

What parameters are used 
to calculate FibroMeter VIRUS?

The test is based on patient clinical data (age, gender) and test results of 7 blood markers

  • Platelets
  • Alpha-2-macroglobulin
  • ALT
  • Urea
  • Prothrombin index
  • GGT
  • AST

What are the results provided 
by FibroMeter VIRUS?

Fibrosis score (FibroMeter) assesses the presence of fibrosis. The score is between 0 and 1, which represents the probability of the patient presenting a significant fibrosis (METAVIR stage F2 or higher). It is displayed with an associated classification, representing the patient's presumed METAVIR stage.

Cirrhosis score (CirrhoMeter) assesses the presence of cirrhosis. This score was developed specifically for the diagnosis of cases for severe fibrosis and cirrhosis. The score is between 0 and 1, and represents the probability of the patient suffering from cirrhosis. This score is accompanied by the patient's presumed METAVIR stage.

Note: according to the patient's presumed stage, only the most appropriate classification will be displayed on the results sheet.

Activity grade (InflaMeter) assesses the necrotico-inflammatory activity caused by the virus. The score is between 0 and 1, which indicates the probable presence of significant activity (METAVIR stage A2 or above) in conjunction with the associated METAVIR activity grade.

Expert System

Certain blood markers can be affected by causes other than liver fibrosis (such as kidney deficiency, anti-coagulant treatments, etc.) That is why FibroMeter VIRUS includes an expert system that verifies the consistency of the blood marker test results. In case of abnormal values that could alter the results, the system adjusts the final FibroMeter score.

Furthermore, the health professional can manually notify fibrometer.com website of the blood marker affected by these disturbances at the time of the test.
