Unfortunately viruses like to have their own specific cures.

I keep hoping they'll be able to kill Herpes (all), EpsteinBarre and and all the other baddies.

When you get into the various viral infections, the treatments run the gamut, if a treatment even exists. Viruses are one of the most difficult illnesses to cure, even control. Take the common cold as an example or viral pneumonia. Many simply have to run their course and when a patient gets seriously ill from any viral disease, hospitalization and quarantine may be necessary. If we could find a cure for the common cold, I believe Big Pharm would be most upset. It’s one of their money makers. Vaccines can help in some cases, but like the Flu, as well as Hep C, the virus continually mutates, so what might work today, may not be effective tomorrow in all patients.

If the DAA's are as I understand "direct antiviral agent" are there treatments for other viruses like Epstein-Barr syndrome or West Nile virus? Or rhino virus? Etc...etc...

Can they be applied the same way as they have been to hep C?
