Hi John,

I wouldn't anticipate any problems with that. I had some trouble after I started treatment and it required going to see an oral surgeon. My platelets were real low, so he checked with my hepatologist to confirm that it was okay on his end, it was. Since you're only having a filling done, there's likely no risk of infection. When your platelets drop, there's a possibility of excessive blood loss and clotting problems and with a low white blood cell count, there's the infection risk. I was far lower than you currently are and there were no problems post extraction (I had a tooth broken in half under a crown). Anyway, just let your dentist know that you're being treated. There shouldn't be any problems I'm aware of.

Hey John,

Your ANC is 1.0 and it's getting down there. I've seen it lower but at 1.0 you need to be very cautious. You're susceptible to infection quite easily. They started me on Neupogen injections for several months during treatment. That helps to rebuild your white count quickly. Keep it in mind that you need to avoid people with colds and flu. You should also use care when out in public. It's a good idea to always wash your hands and use a hand sanitizer when touching contaminated surfaces. The mall and public restrooms are not your friend right now!

Hi John,

Glad to hear your enzymes are in good range! I'm wondering if you know how they are measuring your neutrophil count? Are you referring to your actual White blood cell (WBC) count or the Absolute Neutrophil count (ANC)? A WBC count of 4 isn't below the lower limit of normal and an ANC of 4 is normal. If you can post your actual results and the range used, we can give you a better opinion. I'm going to provide some links to a thread here where we discussed it and another from the NIH that explains it. Good luck on that upcoming UND!!

alt ast almost normal - bilirubin back to normal (1.4 down to 1.0).  Neutrophils the only problem.  They are 2.5 where the low is 4.  Keeping an eye in them - will now in a few days whether viris is undetectable.
