I can't have traditional acupuncture, so have had interferometry acupuncture done with electrodes. Certainly wakes up the old system and done my legs a world of good. Haven't tried moxibustion but have had aroma therapy and manipulation of my chi done which did't show any resluts at the time but I 'm sure it did some good as it reduced my tension levels. Cg

Das a good link wren. Notice the fact dat cooling herbs are mentioned. Helped me no end with hot feet. I went to a drug treatment centre for my acupunture which was private but only cost me $60 for two sessions but it's also available on the NHS with some GP practices [mine does it] So having to go private is a real shame an as you say costly Nadine. The centre I go to even did Healing. Boy wuz I spaced out after a session with dat & ended up on a train to Woking one time after leaving. i live in London an Woking is 3/4 of an hour away. Wuz I bothered....nope. did I have to pay for the journey when the ticket guy turned up nope [fortunately]

Sometimes I tink the west are ignorant....Plain ignorant gives me the needle ashamed
ok Bogey I'm gonna chant...already missed one morning ritual hmm The Dude

My whole tx wuz covered & still is by my Acupuncturist she reads so much jus by taking my pulse it's spooky. In the UK some GP surgeries do it on the National Health [mine do] But I stayed with my private one since they knew Hep C inside an out.

One cannot deny the very real benefits of Acupuncture; some people do have averse effects like feeling sick, drinking alcohol is a no no before acupuncture [cos u will probably feel sick/dizzy]

If one can get Acupuncture an yor not drinking during tx 'go for it believe' it's been about for over 2000 years. Gotta ask yorself 'can I afford not to if it's available.'

Herbs yep dunno during tx tho I let the usual suspects sort dat out.

One of the arguments against using Chinese Medicine is that there are so many different "protocols" - depending on the practitioner. I think it is wonderful that she is sharing what she has learned by training others. She is co-author of a book on HCV along with Dr. Gish. He is a GI doctor from SF that is very well respected.
My daughter is a doctor of Chinese Medicine and I'm hoping she will take this course.
